I'm not lasting long in any of my builds, but I've never been a good pilot of light mechs. I like the speed of the mech, reminds me of a spider... but more like a race car. I want more. Is a 190xl worth the investment.

Hands down favorite Locust build!

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...7d416aff5dd4909

Quad SRM2's and a medium laser

Group 1 - All missiles on chain fire
Group 2 - All missiles burst
Group 3 - Medium laser

You can almost keep up a constant barage of SRM's pilling into people, there is a slight delay but almost not noticable. As you circle of death someone the constant explosions obsure their view.

Also Don't use the medium laser while chain firing, you'll heat up too quickly.

Save it for burst damage or drive by's.

There is a nice spot near the boat in forest colony that you can hide most lights in completely underwater.

Edit: I think River City as well.

Crimson Straits near the island across from the double level docks is also highly Submarine Locust friendly.

Not only does someone need to make this happen, but they definitely gotta record some video of it for us.

Just please don't do it with SRMs - you'll kill yourself as they explode immediately on exiting the tubes.

(Speaking from experience; I've killed my Commandos once or twice when the SRM tubes suddenly became submerged)

I just wish PGI would lighten up on the Heatsink requirements on the Locust. A minimum of 4 heatsinks seems to be too harsh on a mech that light (that is 20% of it's weight).

I would rather see a minimum or 3 or 2. It would make me happy :)

Thread title is fail. There is nothing hard about the Locust. The armor wouldn't stand up to paper meche.

Yeah, the mech is going to take some getting used to. It really is a companion to other mechs or a scout, and it doesn't fit well in many other places.

The one time I survived with my Stock 1V, I had 1 MG left, 1 ML, and did 49 damage. Which is about how much damage I did any game with 2 MG's, thanks to PGI's horrible balancing of that weapon.

Thread title is fail, but not because of that; because it should be "The Locust is a Harsh Mistress".

The Loonies were criminals, political exiles, or their descendants - much like us light pilots :)

Also, because us light pilots know all too well what TANSTAAFL! means...
