as opposed to making an informed decision about which one you want instead of just clicking on something with absolutely no idea how it will impact certain things?

My informed decision was choosing the faction I am most loyal to, just like my forum badge choice was made. My second one was the one that I may move to next after that, again based upon loyalty. It has nothing to do with mechanics or gaming the system. These are loyalty badges, which give a loyalty bonus, so they should be based upon loyalty. I realize that is not everyone else's viewpoint, and I respect that, but choosing your loyalty badges based upon mechanics is just like boating six PPCs: silly.

You're discounting mercenaries. Mercenaries are only loyal to the C-Bill.
If it seems they're going to be working for a couple particular, or only one particular house, it behooves the merc to wait and choose his loyalty bonus for that faction AFTER CW comes out and they can see the implementation of Loyalty.

If they pick the faction they personally like from the fluff, then their unit decides that rewards from loyalty to that faction aren't up to snuff and work for another faction, then that person is out of luck for their medallion choice.

No, no it's not. I'm fairly certain I'll take one Kuritan medallion but I have no idea what to do witht he other 3 and I want to know more about it before I decide. I don't even know why this is a discussion. Some of us simply asked if there's a deadline. If you chose or choose yours that's fine, but why is it ANY kind of issue that some are asking what they're for, if there's a deadline, etc. before they choose????

As I said, I realize that my viewpoint doesn't represent everyone, and some mercenary types would fall into that bucket. Most mercenary units, though, did have loyalties to certain houses, though it may be multiple houses. The Kell Hounds, for instance, tended to side with a few like-minded factions, but did not work for them solely. Others worked for one faction only, but kept their independence for the heck of it. Still others started out as faction units and only became mercenaries when their house fell apart or was usurped/destroyed.

I have only chosen two of mine, so I understand wanting to know more info, but they have not made a deadline for choosing and the system is not even in place yet, so worrying about it is silly. My point was that these are LOYALTY badges, though, not cbill badges. You should choose loyalty badges based off of loyalty, not whatever lets you manipulate the system the easiest. Agree with me or not - that is just my opinion, and "everyone has one".

that is some faulty logic. not all factions are in the game yet. how can i choose a medallion based on my loyalty if my faction im loyal to is not in the game? i cant, and since we have no information on how it works we dont even know if there will be other factions made available at a later date or if the ones that are there now are all there will ever be.

Yours is the faulty logic. The PP is for these six factions - you knew that when you bought it (or didnt). There are no other IS factions currently planned, though they have said the initial clans once they are introduced - and I HIGHLY doubt these medallion tokens will allow you to pick clans if you do hold onto them that long.
