Personally I switched the 4 srm2's for 2 srm4's....sure its slower reload, but the heat is a lot less.
Also, I pilot this mech like I fight in RL....as dirty and cheap as possible. If there's an enemy light, I won't even bother fighting. If I can run away, I'll run away. Unless it's completely engaged by 2 other mechs or more, I won't even join the scrap, and even then only after its starting to show weak points.
As for heavies, again same thing. I run away. I wait until there's a good brawl going, then I rush in, pour some SRM's into a open torso, and run off for another pass. Most times I'm "securing" the kills I get, and I don't think I've ever won a true fight with this mech on my own. It's a support build, and if you play conservatively you live off 2 tons of ammo and see the end of the match.
I agree with this (except the SRM4s, I'll take the heat). However, like any other light, lone assaults are putty in your hands. The insane amount of acceleration can keep you on their backside for quite some time, and you can always bail in those moments they start drawing a bead on you. But yes, the locust excels at exploiting the spots that the enemy isn't paying attention to.
