I'm an Awesome pilot and use my 9M as a pulse boat. I've always wanted to try out the PB and would try running it with 3SRM6 and 2 LPL. The build used by the Awesome pilot that won the tourney would also be good to try.

I got annoyed with mine, found most brawl loadouts were much more effective on the 9M. So I went
2ERLL
LRM!
I dont even recall what all I put on for LRM, I think it was a 15 in torso, 10 and 5 in the arm. And XL375 or something. Use the speed to position for LRM fire, 2 LL are solid for defense against lights and OK for closer encounters with big mechs. it really isnt that hard to stay out of facewreckz range when you can move over 80KPH and have ERLL to shoot at approaching foes. Just be aware of the battlefield, without brawl weapons you can get overwhelmed.
I moved a lot of the armor to the front also. Especially CT. When you need to escape, do it with an arm turned toward your enemy. You can bum rush them sometimes too that way, but the CT takes a lot of hits even then.
I mastered the thing and it hasnt launched since. I will say this: With the mech bonus and an LRM/ERLL build, you can earn a decent rate because of the assist numbers you can get due to the range you can engage at. Mostly because of this, I consider my PB purchase a wash. It is certainly not a top earner, but as I bought it on sale, and it wasnt very pricey to loadout as I just borrowed my 9M engine and had the ERLL and LRM launchers laying around, by the time I mastered it it had earned a fair amount of C-bill for me to burn on DHS for my pheonix mechs.

Paint it a pretty color and never touch it again.

im torn between playing it close to stock or with lpl and ssrm2
its by far the worst mech made because it lacks either modules or hardpoints and it has a major deceleration nerf.
i think the best advice i can give is, its not a front line mech, its a brawling/support mech. basically this means you enter the fight after someone else.

The Victor, Battlemaster, and even the 65 ton Thunderbolt show just how terrible the Awesomes are. PGI failed miserably with this mech.

i loved my pb with 2 large pulse, srms, and a 390 xl.... then i purchased a dragon slayer :/
i loved killing people using a pb and seeing no other awesomes on the field; beautiful and unique snowflake
one thing that really helped me was putting arm lock as my right mouse button since the hard points are weird
