Just a quick question about if the Phoenix mechs are Lostech or not.

The Phoenix mechs are some of the oldest mechs in the Mechwarrior games and table top board game but are they old enough to be considered Lostech or not?

Sure they are, if you found one from a Star League stash or something.

All of these mech designs though are very old and very COMMON lore wise. At this point in the time frame they're all pretty much "normal" production mechs.

Nope. They are all more numerous than real locusts.

Then again, there are some retcons making them more rare than they should be since the designs had to be erased from the universe for a certain time (unseen debacle). Still, they are anything but lostech.

No, these four mechs are among the most common designs out there. Everyone has them, and in large numbers. Even some backwater periphery states like the Taurian Concordat manufactures the Thunderbolt.

No they were unseen because harmony gold are a bunch of a**holes that try to sue everyone they can.

The original locast phoenixhawk and battlemaster designs belonged to a company that made anime, FASA thought they'd licensed these designs legally but it turns out the company they bought the licence from didnt own the licence.

So Catalyst could not use the images but they still owned the names and stats for battletech so to avoid legal issues they blacked out the images.

PGI has now got the correct licence so they can make mechs based on those original designs.

The mechs are not lost tech but at the start they could not have made them for legal reasons.
