To whom it may concern,

I hereby admit that I did not fully go through the uniform guidelines for mechwarriors and called out the position of a friendly lance that was parked in a corner of the map with no intention of supporting friendlies.

I admit I do not know if they had some secret strategy that may have result in victory but it was 9 enemy mechs vs 3 on the field and the enemy did already have knowledge of their location.

However, this does not reconcile the fact that I, in anger, called out friendly positions that is against the rules of engagement.

I have since gone through the code of conduct thoroughly and will refrain from any further acts against the rules

I have posted this message also as a record of the event and hope for leniency in the event any complaint is filed and moderators wish to take action against me.

Thank you

Burn the witch!

(I think 1 offense is OK, just don't make it a habbit).

We all have moments like that.

+1 for manning up to it though!

And you can, of course, file a report to Comstar since they also did not obey the rules of engagement by not participating in the battle.

Honor to you sir for manning up and admitting your mistake.

I have on occasion intentionally hid and shutdown. Always when my mech was held together by bubble gum and the only thing I was good for was adding to the enemy kills in an insurmountable fight. More frequently, I've hid and shutdown near a Cap for the sole intention of surprising at least one of the enemy and taking him with me. In either event, the decision to shutdown when the fight is well and truly lost is the sole decision of the pilot and should be respected.

It is worth noting that once shutdown you no longer have any idea of the Mechs status. It well could be that the mech is weaponless.

Don't get me wrong the ERPPC sniper Spider 5D with ECM who has gone unscathed the entire battle and then decides to shut down is truly contemptible.

When they have reports of offenses I'm sure they go by how many reports they get for a player, so if that's the only time you did that, they probably won't take any action other than a warning, if anyone even reported it.

I will probably get in trouble for this, but the mea culpa goes a way for me. FWIW

+1 to these.

We all have our moments and we don't judge to harshly based off of just 1 incident. It's consistent behavior that really gets attention.

Good on you.

Cheers.

The best way to encourage this attitude is to get the in game reporting tool working.

People moderate their own behaviour based not on the severity of the punishment, but on the probability of getting caught. Right now the probability of having any number of players actually go through on reporting you via the klunky as hell email system is vanishingly close to zero.

Commendable, but a public flogging isn't necessary. I've made some bonehead moves myself, as I acclimate to this particular game and community. I think the most encouraging thing about this, is you accepted the rules of the CoC and adjusted your thinking/behavior accordingly. A lot of PUG's make that difficult, but I figure as long as I do my best to "toe the line", I'm doing my part to move the community in the right direction.
