I'm still randomly experiencing a total game lock up while firing machine guns. The game freezes, and the MG sound just loops. It's a little frustrating.

Have you run the repair tool recently or submitted a support ticket?

I run the PH ShadowHawks with Massive 3 Machines going off right next to me ! no issues there man.... I guess its another case of the hardware you are using might need an upgrade or the drivers are too new "beta" that might not be compatible with this game....

Like my fellow old man commented, if you are running Nvidia card(s) run with release versions not Betas. Other than that, options are (1) repair tool, (2) support ticket with DXDiag and Omicron logs attached. Good luck with resolution.

Had only 2 crashes with 6 MGs on a Jagermech.

But in the past I had a lot of crashes with catapults and 50+ lrms.
When I fired all I crashed pretty often.

Read in the forums that high fps and many objects at the same time could cause crashes.
So I edited a game file and set my max fps to 45. Before I had 90-100 fps.

With max 45 fps I had no more crashes when launching many lrms and only 2 with my Jagermech with 6 MGs.
So if you have more than 45 fps try reducing them.

It is the user.cfg you have ot edit
add:
sys_MaxFPS = 45
