I think it's a hilariously fun mech to drive now that I've got it mastered. I've been using advanced sensor range coupled with an air strike and an artillery strike. 170kph is a lot of fun! It's really fun to haul butt through the water on crimson. I like the way it handles, though I'm still figuring it out. I've done a few fun builds so far, like 5 flamers (as effective as it sounds.. but lots of fun!), erppc, etc.

Anyone else having a great time in the locust?

I was getting really frustrated, then I speed tweaked it and went "ahhhh I'm starting to get it!" then I mastered it and I went "oooooh this is fun!".

Absolutely hilarious with lots of flamers.

I can not say i have tried it out very much outside of the proving grounds.. Having way to much fun with my hawk right now.

But it is a blast just running around with like a squirrel on speed.

Squirrel on speed is a very accurate statement.
I'm not any good in mine but I am having a great time.
Zoom past, plant a shot into a big backside, all the while thinking, Whoop! Whoop! Whoop!!!!
.
Locust pilots are the weirdest........

I have worked to Elite on most of mine (still a tad short on the 3S). My k/d is averaging out now (sadly), but is still high compared to my Spiders, which for something that is so easy to kill seems hilarious. Must be all that time as a kid playing EGA battletech in my Locusts...

Still I want my Locust IIC! I need me my papercut mech... :)

yes, lots of fun. speed tweak helps alot. thats all i have now for elite skills but about to get FF. look forward to x2, I Think the mech will really shine once i get that. BTW 3M is my favorite, been racking up 400+ damage games now with 5 small pulse lasers.

i think part of the fun is teh fact that you could just die at any time!

They are the most fun light at the moment IMO. So teeny and fast. The secret is to never stop running.

For those of you who mastered them already, did you do it by actually playing them, or did you use GXP to fast forward the leveling?

Glad some people are enjoying the locusts. It's been a rough experience for me for most games trying to avoid fights and capping through the basics. Maybe I need to play it differently. Wait to see if the team is winning then swoop in for the assists and killsteals. That IS how I got two games with 5 kills and 5 assists in a Locust. If the team is losing in the beginning then cap.

I haven't Mastered them yet but after getting four or five Basics on each one I decided to use my vast reserves of GXP to get that sweet sweet Speed Tweak faster, so I finished up the Basics and unlocked the Speed Tweak on each of them with GXP, now I plan to finish up their Elites with mech XP since I can at least survive a whole match in them now.

You need to establish the definition of 'master'... I have all my elites unlocked (well on my 1V & 3M, working on the 3S still) and just need to unlock the 3rd module...

Oh and while I could spend 2k MC and transfer 50k XP from my Firebrand to my GXP, I'm not crazy enough to do that...

It's pretty self evident, the third tier is called "Master" and it's the additional slot. If you have the additional module slot (listed as MASTER in the pilot lab) then you have it mastered. If you don't have the third tier, called "Master" then you do not have it mastered.

And I just gxp'd them - there's nothing left to spend GXP on and I had a couple hundred thousand so why not.
