Clantech

there is one thing I allways hated in the old Mechwarrior Parts. Every LOW KEY IS Merc Unit had several Clanmechs, as if you can buy clan mech at your local Walmart.
I would love if you have to earn Clantech.
It would be cool if you could take clan as a faction, but then you only have clantech. And IS Warriors can "salvage" clantech , by component destruction (weapons) or a whole mech (headshots, legs destroyed or gyro destruction )
Another thing I really would love if you would make WINNING more desirable then just killing your opponent, Only in the XP tree you see the difference between winning and loosing, The base ammount for winning a battle should be much higher than loosing.

Nah, don't see that happening.
For starters, how would this "honor" be calculated? You get kicked out of the warrior caste if you focus fire, for instance, but imagine people getting nothing for winning matches this way?
Second thing is that Clans don't use C-Bills. Although I don't see them doing 2 designs of the same thing, so they will use the very same C-Bill mechanic as IS does.
As far as OP goes, don't take my word for it, but from what I've heard, they've already decided they'll nerf the Clan tech (in some of the NGNG podcasts). So I'd be worried if it will be of any use rather than how rare it will be.

Oh please God no...... Multiple currencies is one thing that drove me away from STO and being a Trekkie, I am still coming to terms with that (I still have it installed and come very close to hitting the launch button at times).

Maybe for IS pilots the Salvage Bonus could be part in "Clan currency". Perhaps your faction and if you are actually fighting Clan mechs would affect this. This currency would be used to "buy" Clan tech weapons and reflect actual scournging after a battle and behind the scenes trading rather than finding clan money and ordering something from ClanMart. If you want to remain 'pure tech' perhaps you could turn off the Clan salvage bonus for all C-bills.
This would make Clan Tech available but at a slow pace for IS pilots.

The Clans have a really odd economy. There are Kerenskys and work credits for currency. Work credits are all electronic and the standard currency unit across the clans. Kerenskys are restricted by law to use by the merchant caste and are also the only hard currency. The whole system is weird, but fits with the socialist bent of the clans. For warriors things are much simpler, they requisition or are issued whatever they need. Anything unobtainable outside of those two methods are either purchased with work credits or not available. (legally at least)
The whole buy your inventory thing is really unnecessary with them. Unlocking access to certain things might be more normal.

How about a salvaging mechanism? (ATD49 -> They are open to introducing one, but there's more important stuff to do right now.)
1. If you destroy a mech, and your team wins, you have a 10%-chance to salvage a random non-destroyed component: weapons, reactor, AMS, ECM... Of course, you don't care about that ML you got from destroying a Hunchback, but a Clan-ER-ML from destroying a Nova is a different story. Over time you will amass all sorts of random equipment, IS and Clan, you can either sell or use.
2. CB-rewards would have to be lowered slightly, because selling pillage would be a further form of income.
And maybe a 1:100-chance to salvage a complete Clan-Mech (without destroyed components of course).

That leaves a huge imbalance in gameplay. In a TT game you have random dice rolls that determine everything regardless of how good and advanced your tech is. That's not the case here. If you completely disallow IS players access to the clan tech you're going to create a huge imbalance. This will lead to two scenarios. The first is that players get discouraged and just quit as the get rolled constantly by anyone running clan tech. Scenario 2 leads to everyone jumping ship to the clans leaving a very miniscule IS player base which is not a good situation at all.

Or how about that:
An IS-pilot CAN buy Clantech. For five times the prize. And if it gets destroyed during battle then it's gone forever and he has to buy it anew. (2 million CB for a new Clan-ER-ML? Who doesn't have that money???)
Or how about that:
You earn the right to buy a single piece of Clantech if you win X matches in a row.

The high price is a better idea. The other ideas DO limit the tech even if they aren't intended to. Now I wouldn't be opposed to limiting clan tech to a tiered ladder that players progress with time regardless of skill when it comes to clan pilots. They can start off in any IS tech they want but they must progress from lights to assaults through time invested in the game. (Which is what I think would have been a good idea for IS too but I digress)
