Hey every1,

just another suggestion for more defensiv equipment.

Category: Defense
Type: lethal and non-lethal / equipment /

-----------------------

Item: Drop Mines [DM]

Description:

Drop mines are auxilliary weapons to be mounted at the back of a mech. When activated or "shot" bundles of mines are droped down behind the forward moving mech. They spread out forming a "carpet" covering a certain, relativly small area. Activated by running into them or in close vicinity triggering the magnetic sensors of the mines. There are lethal and non-lethal types of DM.

Model Types:
*non-lethal*
"sticker" (mines clinging to target mech. Through mass-generator mines add significant weight slowing mech down and making it clumsy)
"duster" (triggered mines explode in a harmless cloud of smoke and dust that hinders vision. Reduce/blind sight and sensors/lock-on)

*lethal*
"hunter" (explosive mines damaging hull and armor of legs mainly)

Specifications: medium weight (2-5 tons relative to mech class), may be consumable items, maximum 3 charges / "carpets" to drop, 1 slot per charge.

Notes on item:

* "Hunter" mines increase risk of damage to the rear of the mech they are installed to because they are back mounted.
* Light mechs can only carry one charge of any mine type, medium mechs can carry up to 2 charges while all other mechs can carry up to max.
* All mines could throw themself towards a target once triggered. They could move up to 20m at 80-90km/h before falling dormant again.
* "sticker" mines mass-generator let them apply much more weight to their victim than they actually have. Can be removed only by e-shock. Speed -30%.
* The blinding effect of "duster" mines is limited to the area of effect. Moving out of the dust cloud removes all of the effects.
* EM-sensor would be the only one able to detect a dormant mine field. Mines magnetic-sensor can be disturbed by anti-magnetic PHC.
* Mine types can not be recognized by detection. It is never to know which type of mines is laying dormant before an observer.

While interesting... I'm not sure how much those will be in effect.

My 12 mans, we would use those constantly to deny terrain to opponents.

However, their "Tricky" nature to deploy. as well as Programming assets...

I wish you luck, I hope it gets put in. but I doubt it.
