It's from the game Skyrim.
One of the oft-repeated NPC comments is a character who tells you that he was an adventurer like you until he took an arrow to the knee.
Thems that played the game (I haven't) have heard it so often that it's damaged their brains, leading to the meme fest which has ensued.
