Hi everyone,

First of all, I'm not playing this game for a long time, so please be gentle! :(

So, I'm running this Cataphract 1X build: CTF-1X Sniper. I like hanging back and doing some well placed shots from a distance. Providing long range support for my teammates that are taking the real hits. It's working out well, but I feel it can be better... I'm thinking of trying out some ERPPC's instead of my LL's. This would require some tweaks to free up some space.

I'm asking for some constructive feedback and/or thoughts about the ERPPC's.

Not really what you asked for but you might consider getting a jagermech since it can snipe much better while staying in cover.
As for your build looks solid maybe switch out for ER laser if you notice that you stay more at around 600m than 450m. ER PPCs are REALLY hot so you might be better off with standart PPCs but don't get caught by a light or brawler in that build :)

My favorite for this was always 4xERPPC or 4xPPC with an XL325 and flooded with DHS.

@ZeusAlbatros Well, actually I was considering it. Also because I really like the feel of ballistics.

Meanwhile I already have switched to ERLLa's, smacked my head because I didn't do it earlier. I think I can handle the extra heat from PPC's, seeing that with my current setup I don't have to watch my heat 95% of the matches, don't know about the ERPPCS.

@Cato A setup with 4x PPC looks fun too! Maybe I'll try that one out when I have enough C-Bills!

Hmm, I wished there was a way to test builds without having to buy everything first :/

Using an 1X for anything other than PURE BRAWLING AWESOMENESS is a waste.

Pretty much. If you're interested in sniping, the 3D lets you use jump jets to better leverage the torso ballistic slot. The only thing the 1X gives you is that extra energy slot, which gives you one more medlas when running an AC20 with a gigantic standard engine.

That's not to say sniping CAN'T work, just that there are other chassis that do it a bit better.

If you want to stay behind cover using the high mounted energy points on the torso is definitely the key. Just remember that your ballistic slot is much lower.
Try the Jagermech if you wan more fidelity with your ballistic weapons. Get the Firebrand if you want to have your cake and eat it too.
