I have searched but didn't find anything. I am on a windows 8 machine using explorer and I cannot use enter or anything else I've tried actually, to create a line break which results in a wall of text. I also cannot "like" posts when on this machine. Has anyone figured out what causes this and a workaround or fix for the issue?

It's something to do with IE. Also happens with Win7 and the server versions of Win7/8. Don't know about the Like problem.

Workaround 1:
In the top-left of the reply window is a button that looks like a switch. In default mode, you cannot get carriage returns by pressing Enter, while in the alternate mode, you can. Type your words, then click the button and hit Enter for a carriage return, then click the button again to go back to normal editing mode to type some more.

Workaround 2:
Use any other browser besides IE.

The BUG is in Internet Explorer 10. Use Chrome. Problem fixed.

I'll try that guys, thanks! I use IE on my tablet because chrome isn't the greatest when it comes to touchscreen browsing

Neither is IE. Chrome has a 'touch mode' which isn't great. If you're doing touch then you're using Modern IE which is even more broken than Desktop IE. You may want to investigate Firefox. I've not used it myself, but a friend of mine swears by it for touch browsing on his Surface Pro.

line break test with the new IE 11

It works! (update to Windows 8.1) yay!

looks like I'll be updating IE and windows then! lol

Surface Pro is what I'm using. I have a few issues with with it registering tapping on links and such sometimes but for the most part it works fairly well for me.

Thanks for letting us know that the windows/IE update resolved this issue for you guys. We will make sure to inform other players experiencing the same issue to update to the latest versions.

Yea I'd make this a sticky somewhere. It was annoying and made posting difficult (but that could be a good thing depending on who you ask lol)
