During a testing run on caustic I noticed that lrms are not doing any damage between 180-185. repeated the same thing with a different mech.

It took a second to understand you're talking about meters. I was wondering how on earth you managed to find a target going 185km/h. Are the mechs you are using by chance mechs with the launchers substantially in front of the cockpit? Perhaps try it in a catapult where the launchers are behind the cockpit and see how it goes?

Also, if it's in live matches, you should verify that this is not against a moving target, since you have to measure the distance the missiles themselves traveled.

Two possibilities:

1. The mech is moving towards you at the same speed you move away from it. Thus distance from launch site to target is <180m even though the distance from the mech and you is >180m. Damage = zero.

2. The mech is not where it looks like it is. If your ping is high, it may be closer to you than it appears on your HUD if it is slowly approaching. Thus distance from you to the mech is <180m even though the system tells you it's >180m.

Can be either, or a mix of the two. If you're firing at a stationary target without moving, but it doesn't do any damage in 180<target<185 range, then it could be another new bug.

I've also noticed this, and that the PPC damage at 90-95m is inconsistent.

I suspect that the targeting indicator is telling you the distance to the center of the enemy mech, not the closest face to you, which means that the front edge of the mech is closer than the center, and thus the front edge is invulnerable to damage and shields the back end of the mech.

Wow, this mechanic sounds really dumb when you talk about it like that.

You need to give yourself extra space for lag/HSR and/or just actual distance traveled by the LRMs.
