What if certain light mech chasis got discounts on things like arty, airstrikes, and uavs? Or Extra module slots that could only be filled by those specific things?
Maybe there are certain energy heavy variants that get an extra slot for coolants.

I like the general idea of this, although implementation would have to be careful to avoid P2W scenarios. Giving role specific bonuses to mechs would definitely help encourage variety and versatility though. Maybe add pilot perks such as "Sensor Specialist" that would boost the range of a scout mech's sensor range or "Ballistics Specialist" that gives a bonus of some kind for mechs that are typically ballistic monsters. You could even have generalized bonuses such as "Light Mech Specialist" where the pilot gets a small bonus to certain things when piloting a mech. I would only allow a pilot to take one specialist role like that though. That way it kept in spirit with being an actual specialist as opposed to a pilot that jumps from weight class to weight class. Good idea sir!
