I just had a quick browse so im not sure of if there was any recent discussions on the Kintaro CT,
so my question is.

Is the CT fixed and is the kintaro a usuable mech?

The reason I ask is i got a buddy into the game and and he likes the looks and idea of the golden boy

So any info on this is greatly appriciated

The side torsos are surprisingly large now (although death by coring is still possible). I run a large XL on mine and the thing can take a pretty serious beating. The arms and side torsos both absorb a lot of damage, and most of my deaths are from XL detonations.

Kintaro hitboxes are good now. However, I would not recommend the Golden Boy, lower engine cap and the other Kintaro's can do the same thing better, Kint-18 is best by fare in my opinion.

Yep, kintaro 18 is a great mech, if you are building an anti-light mech. Way better than the shadowcat.

Kintaros are awesome. They do one role exceedingly well - killing light a-holes.

The Golden Boy is my favorite. I do hope that in a future Medium pass PGI at least lets it use a 300 size engine, which would allow one more DHS and a little more speed.

The torso got changed but the mech itself is pretty big. Also consider the lack of jumpjets if you plan to go light hunting. If those things don't bother you then it's a nice looking and fast mech.

What? SHADOWCAT IS IN THE GAME?!?!?!?!

Or did you mean Shadowhawk? :) On that matter I have to disagree with you. Jumpjets make light killing 10 times easier and you only lack of one streak, and instead you can throw dakka in it. I have 4 streaks, AC-5 and 2 MLs. Max jumpjets. It works against lights and heavier enemies.

That sounds pretty awesome - I may have to try one when I can.

I have the GB, KTO20 and KTO18. The 18 is getting me serious kills and due to having the maximum capapcity engine (travelling well over 110kph with speed boost) it is very agile and survives a long time if I play smart. 5 streaks and 2ML is my loadout.

I dealt over 1000 damage a few matches ago with the 18. The other variants, I feel, are not as good, particularly the GB due to the small engine (and I think it has a smaller torso twist or something).

The GB is not a good mech. That being said, here's a load out that I've found to be workable.

Do not use the mech as a LRM boat. Only shoot the LRM20 when you are withing 500m and can be assured of a hit. Stay with your group to support from the rear and chase lights off. It's an OK build that can be a bonus to your team if played right, instead of a hindrance like the GB usually is.

Naw, I would rather run this shadow hawk than the kint now:

Exactly same build as mine. I use this for semi-passively protecting heavies and assaults from lights, and light LRM-support. Too slow to go actively hunting those annoying bugs, KTO-18/19 and SHD-2D2 are better for that.

Kintaros are fine now since ct fix, but the golden boy is a lame duck as its a large medium mech with a slow max speed due to the low engine rating it simply carries to little armour to get in range to pose a threat, just buy a c-Bill version.

I can't agree here. I find my Kintaro 18 and GB to be more effective light killers than my Shadow Hawk. Besides, you can't really use all of the Shadow Hawk's other weapons on fast moving lights anyway, so it really does boil down to how many streaks you can send their way.
