I don't know about the rest of you, but I have been experiencing unreasonably long load times. Often after the map loading screen, I'll sit in front of a black screen for 30+ seconds only to load in and see the entire lobby is waiting for me to ready up. I have had lancemates in my guild experience similar issues, and I'm writing here to see if anybody else is experiencing this so I can debunk whether or not it's a major issue.

Ridiculous Load Times And Black Screens?

I haven't seen this exactly but it has been taking my client forever to do the initial load when I open the game and saving mechs in mech lab now takes much longer then it used to.

Yes I have seen this a number of times too. I'll occasionally sit at a back screen and pop into the game with the countdown timer already into the 20s or 30s.
And then the next 2 or 3 matches I might drop in at 60 seconds.
I haven't yet been able to come up with any sort of logical pattern or circumstance that might be causing this. It might simply be the matchmaker dropping you in to shore up the last spot or two (ie. it was looking for someone in a certain ELO range, but gave up and dropped you in instead?) I don't know, I'm not really sure. But I have seen it.

Its not just you. PGI is working on this issue.
For me, about 20 seconds but more often closer to 40 and sometimes longer. Im not an impatient guy but having to wait almost a minute for a 6 to 8 minute game with limited content and high repetition is annoying. PGI wants MWO to be fast and furious, in and out, but we are spending more than 10% - 15% of that time watching the load screen.

I've noticed it since the last patch or two. Load times have atleast tripled on average while pugging for me.

Just be thankful you missed the entire era where you needed to load a game from a cassette tape, which took up to 12 minutes... if it worked at all

Two items effect Load times.
1) bad cached files for textures. (This is fixed by clearing your cache directory.
2) Elo mis-match. The game tries to pair you with a group that will be an average of 50 points of your rating. It will slowly expand outword until it fills the group. Note, this will result in longer wait times the more dispersed the players are online at that moment.

Loading into a match has not changed for me, but since the October 15 2013 patch loading into mech lab has tripled in length. So has saving changes made to any mech. It's not a huge issue, just something I noticed. I'm sure it'll get worked-out, most issues tend to.
