I hate all these anime atrocities. Dark Age was the worst thing to ever happen to Battletech.

I actually like some of the Dark Age artwork, not all, but some. Like the updated Hatamoto-Chi, my favorite Mech, which actually looks pretty good.

Personally, I love the look of the Bushwacker, or maybe the Summoner. Posted Image

Hate is the protection of the ignorant?!
Do you hate Dark Age because of the bad Clix system (that had some really interesting ideas) - or do you allready know the story line at its whole?

In my opinion the most interesting BT times - are before the 4th SuccessionWar or after the selfish end of the 2nd Star League

I am familiar with dark age from Sarna. The Clix system was the part I hated the most and why I gave up on Battletech until MWO came along. It was also around that time that Battletech started becoming a lot more anime....I really dislike those cartoony designs a lot. The whole appeal of battletech to me was gritty realism. These are not exoskeletons or robots...they are vehicles. MWO despicts how they always SHOULD have been IMO. And it is gratifying to see Battletech return to it's roots. Better late than never.

As for lore, the best Lore IMO is 3049 to 3060 era. I read all the IS books in the pre-clan era...the Clan era books were far more interesting.

I've always been partial to the picture on the back of the 2nd edition box set.

The Clan era may have made for more interesting novels, but I think the setting as a whole was more interesting pre-Clan invasion. My BattleTech time line ends in 3065.

What?! The Battlemaster is one of the most anime looking mechs, probably because the design WAS taken from an anime series called Dougram...
I think the Dark Age mechs look much less like "animes" than many of the classic ones.

I always thought the original Phoenix Hawk design was horrible, because it looked extremely "anime-ish", much more so than the other unseen, so much that it didn't really fit in.

I always liked the Rabid Coyote:

The battlemaster is from that series. nor is that what the battlemaster originally looked like.

You're missing the point. I think in this case, the word "anime" is being used as a stand in for "cartoon". That first picture of the BattleMaster looks like it came out of a cartoon. The second one does not. Even though the Unseen were sourced from other places, in BattleTech they were generally presented with dings and dents and a "I walked through 500 kilometers of mud and ice to get here" look.

Battletech.

Yeah, that was my point. Battletech was NOT about anime mechs in the beginning. It took designs and made them gritty and realistic.

Dark age went the opposite direction, and it was awful. Thankfully, MWO looks to be going back to Battletech roots.

The Battlemaster in Battletech source books does not look cartoony like the original Anime version. Which was my point.

The dark age artwork does not give me that impression. Just the opposite.
