Only been playing a week, but it is not clear how I turn by MC into GXP. It appears to take for ever to earn GXP and I have read you can convert your MC into GXP, but there is not real clear way to do it. I'm sure it is easy but can someone walk me through how it is done please?

In the game client you need to go to the "Pilot Lab".

There you should see "Mech Trees". Highlight the mech in question and then you can click on "Exchange XP".

Edit:

I just checked, you need to have Basic unlocked first, like in this example:

Hi Praetor. Firstly thanks for the help. So I have gone into the mech trees, but I just don't see an option to convert the mech XP to general XP and it doesn't give me an option when I try to upgrade any of the mech trees either. I am looking in the wrong spot?

Do you have Basic unlocked?

When you click on the button it will bring up a pop-up with a slider that you can drag to convert available XP to GXP.

No I don't, that explains it then.I just read that you could convert MC to GXP and it ssaid something about converting your mech XP to GXP. Very confusing since I cant find a way to convert my MC to GXP either. Is there a way of doing that and paying for it or doing you just have to grind it out because it is very slow.

Ah, I can't seem to find a way to buy this? Has the sale started because it is Saturday in Australia at the moment and when it does come on sale where do you buy it?

You need to have bought MC separately to be able to convert, do you have an MC balance?

Then when a mech has all eight Basic Efficiencies, the button to "Exchange XP" appears I circled it in red in the picture above.

Edit:

I went to youtube and I did a quick search. I found this video here, I didn't listen to it due to my PC setup right now, but I was able to watch the user go through the sections in the game client.

yeah I have bought quite a few MC. I only know how to buy mechs with it, not how to by GXP with the MC though. I can't seem to find anywhere to do this, but I don't mind paying to speed the process up.

Do have available XP balance on a Basic'ed mech?

Once you click on that "Exchange XP" button this is the pop-up that shows up: (the slider is in the middle of the horizontal grey line)

You cannot buy GXP with MC. You can only convert existing XP you've earned on a 'Mech to GXP by spending MC.

You can only do the conversion after you have already purchased all Basic Efficiencies on a 'Mech variant.

When you have purchased all eight Basic Efficiencies on a 'Mech variant, the button will appear like in the picture in Praetor Shepard's first post above. You use that button to convert extra XP you have earned into GXP by spending MC.

Normally, the conversion rate is 25 XP per MC spent. During a special like this weekend, it's 50 XP per MC spent.

ah, sh.... t I don't feel so stupid now because that is quite confusing to a beginner. Thank you heaps to you all for helping me out. Really enjoying the game so far, was a big fan back in the 90's of the original board game. Shame the Maurader isn't playable, my favourite all time mech. Thanks again.

Yeah, it's less clear now, but you do know that the UI ain't finished, right?

You can go check out the Command Chair. It's a good resource to get some information about the game.
