Are Spiders Really All That Common?

1. No, There not common, you will see more Jenner's / Ravens and NOW Locust's on the battlefield than you have ever seen spiders.
2. Spider pilots (if they are worth weight), don't run into a full lance <4-8-12>, cause certain ppl claim to have seen this, but it dont happen without spider DED, or under 50%, then worthless from there on in.
3. The reason were the last alive is because were doing what LIGHTS do, Scout/Cap/Recon/Tag/Spot..ect. So when it comes end game we haven't taken much damage. Now you/me have to get it on. Some lights run, I never do. I will fight "Tooth and Nail" if i'm the last just to not draw it out.........unlessssssssssss we can get that cap victory.
4. Spider's may have a "slight" hit box issue.........but its more ping and HSR than anything else.

This thread is pretty much dedicated to what you said.

Are there really that many groups of Spiders going around winning every game they play in? Are there really that many Spiders that tie up teams for minutes and go on to single-handedly carry their team to victory?
I seriously doubt it because your videoed experience is consistent with mine. There are rarely more than two spiders in any game I play right now, and in 12v12 premades they are even a bit more rare with Jenners comprising the overwhelming majority of light mechs. Although I did see a 12 man running Commandos the other day.

1.) YMMV. I routinely see 1-2 spiders per match on average, though it was absent more often when everyone was trying out their new Phoenix toys, it has relaxed into a more reasonable mix. I still see a lot of Jenners, because Jenner pilots are inveterate miscreants by nature.
2.) Agreed. The only time I have seen a spider pilot do something that foolish, it clearly was a mistake and they are in a panicked frenzy to escape. Its sad, but more often than not they can succeed.
3.) Agreed. I do not see Spiders generally acting as predators, but more impishly causing trouble and enticing the gullible into moving out of position or into an ambush.
4.) HSR affects more than Spiders, but it seems to affect Spiders more than most.
5.) Agreed. Spiders have some advantages, but they come with some behaviors that are exploitable to their detriment. Shoot where the Spider is going to land, folks. Spiders love their air time, but they get stuck on the landing.

The SDR-5d is my favorite mech, over 90% of my playtime has been in one. I rarely see other Spiders on the field.

A panicked spider is a dead spider

I play like a predator, baiting fatties into following me, then looping around to abuse their rears. When needed, I'll run through a group to get them to pay attention to me instead of my approaching team. Does the job - I know I'm sacrificing myself, but a win is a win. I usually just tell my team to make it worth it (i.e. I have to interrupt a 3-4 mech base cap, I'll dart between them causing confusion and interrupting cap until my team gets there).

Maybe it's my ping, but I get hit juuuuuust fine

A spider flying through the air is doing it wrong. WAY to easy to figure out where they're going to land. Most of my spiders (have a bunch of them) are using 1-2 jj, to discourage the idea of flying. My 12man spotting builds are the exception, as I'm looking rather than fighting.

As much as people hate people talk about "elo brackets" and etc., it's true. The higher up you are, the less Spiders (and more poptarts) you see. I'm just trying to show that in my experience, Spiders are a rarity.

If you have mainstream elo, you meet every kind of mech and there're much more spiders and jagers out there. I won't judge this in any kind, but you have to admit that you left this "mainstream" area so you are no longer able to understand what's going on there.
If you want to "come back" (as silly as this sounds), i'd recommend a new account to see what's going on in daily pug life
