I don't get it. I have used this character name for 15 years in many different mmo games.

Not once in any of those other games has anyone tried to link my name to a Warhammer reference. Yet in MWO, I get someone making a reference about every 5 games or so, since closed beta.

I have never played Warhammer, yet I have had to learn way more about it than I ever wanted to, just so I could explain to people that my name has nothing to do with Warhammer.

There is a race in Warhammer called Eldar. But ELDAR <> ELDDAR.

And "creative spelling" has been around forever to give people a way to use their favorite characters/games' names as there own. It would be a natural assumption for a player to view your name as a tribute to 40k.
