I prefer the 3D for an AC20 brawler or AC10+ 2xPPC's.
Gauss works better on the Ilya or 4X Imo and both does this quite well actually. Gauss is pretty deadly aslong as you don't try and brawl with it. Only reason to use Gauss on a Cataphract over a Jagermech is the fact that you can comfortably squeeze in 7-8 Tons of ammo and a respectable engine or an AMS alongside the usual 2-3 Medium Laser backup weapons.

There is however an easy-to-spot trend on the current unbalanced weapons. And it ain't the gauss.
Nothing is unbalanced at this point except maybe cockpit shake from ACs. You get a Jager with 3AC5s on chain fire on you and you can kiss your life goodbye unless you find cover.

I ran the gauss build too on my Ilya and had a lot of fun with it.
Then they put that charge mechanic in it. I'm not going to get too deep into it. I've given my opinion on it before.
I did learn how to run it. I just don't like how it was done. So now I play something else and am having just as much fun.
If it works for you, great.
BTW, it's "noob"
