I'm looking at you, random line shots.

┻━┻ ︵ヽ(`Д´)ノ︵ ┻━┻

Gettin real sick of your shenanigans.

You have 1 job, pellets! One job! And that's a ball of shotgun spread, NOT SIDEWAYS!.

Those horizontal line shots always drive me nuts, but I'm pleasantly surprised when I get a vertical line when I'm aiming CT. Does seem like a rather odd way for shot to spread, though.

LB-10/X needs 2 things:

1) the ability to fire standard rounds

2) when firing cluster rounds it needs to be a solid shot until it reaches 50-100 meters before it's target. Then it should scatter in to pellets so that it's rounds actually stand a decent chance of hitting a target. It isn't just a mech-sized shotgun, it's a 1000 years in to the future super-high-tech mech-sized shotgun.

You see how bad missile tracking is? The Battletech future is one of backwards technology, it's practically post-apocalyptic in the crudeness of its "high tech" weapons.

the spread of the shots depends on the range of the target i have found. i don't know the exact distance, not even sure if that works in testing grounds, but anyway. if you are fairly close to your target and convergeance has occrrued (if needed) you get a vertical close group blast.

if you are firing at range you get that wide--donkey spread. Good for maybe increasing your assist number and scratching paint.

LB-X type autocannons really do need the ability to load alternate ammo types and allow a mid match toggle between the tons of preloaded ammunition. It has been a staple of Battletech for quite some time. Ammunition types are simply solid and cluster, and I agree that it should cluster spread at 50-100 meters from the target like Shadowbane X said.

Outside of specialty builds, LB-X are just uncommon in most games, which is silly since it was designed to be a more advanced version of standard autocannons, with the weight savings directly related to the concept of carrying at least one ton of each type of ammunition. Imagine how competitive a choice it would be between taking an Ultra AC vs an LB-X AC of the same grade if the LB could crack armor with solid shot then crit seek with scatter, or solid on bigger mechs and scatter on lights on demand, whereas the Ultras give the rate of fire increase. I feel like build diversity would skyrocket in the area of autocannon based mech builds.

Especially when Ultra/LB-X 2, 5, 10, and 20 are fully fleshed out.

QFT

Wouldn't it be nice if things behaved like they were supposed to?

Its also more akin to a "Flak Cannon / Shotgun " hybrid. On most descriptions its also supposed to be great at AA, like the ones mounted on the Rifleman/ Jager.

As one of my friends once put it: it's a thousand years in to the space '80s. Still, that doesn't mean that a few intelligent upgrades cannot be made.
