So I've finally gotten around to spending some serious time in my Battlemasters the last couple nights (as well as still working on elites for my thunderbolts)... and my other BMs do fine except the 1S... Part of this is from running the standard engine that they come with stock as it just uses to much weight to mount a heavy weapons load. I've been getting by with a pair of LRM15s and a quad of MLs like this Modded stock BLR-1S. I can make it work, but I need to get lucky or face someone stupid to get solid kills (Like a 1G who had a yellow CT, did not torso twist, and who decided to face hug me trusting in his extra 2 ML to win).

I haven't bought anything past DHS for these guys yet and I'm still working on funds to finish their upgrades. Back up to just shy of 4 mil atm for that. At the moment though I'm thinking of one of these two builds: the LRM BLR-1S or the SRM BLR-1S.

They both use a 350XL engine to give me some weight to use. The LRM boat though is a very support build with 50 LRM volleys and 1440 missiles. While the SRM boat has fewer SRM volleys, but stronger laser weapons. The LRM boat runs ever so slightly cooler as well as it's max heat load is less. The LRM boat also needs ES though, so likely will cost me more to build...

Anyone else had any luck I might use as inspiration?

Battlemasters are pretty safe for XL engines and frankly they are damn slow with a standard engine, I've tried mine as both an lrm boat and a srm boat both work but the srm carrier runs real hot so you have to play smart.

The issue with the lrm option is your down to high mounted mlas for defence against lights which is an issue as a smart scout will stay in really close where you will struggle to hit them.

I've been running around like this and doing pretty good.
BLR-1S

It can get a little hot, but not as bad as the smurfy seems, especially since I usually reserve the ASRMs for 100 meters or less, at which point I stop using the PPCs,
