I think you'll get over this feeling rather quickly when you see how horrible of a mech it is.

Take a K2
Remove both ballistics
Add 2 energy in the CT
Add a second AMS
Add an ugly paintjob
Retain lack of JJ's

Congrats! You now have the worst heavy mech in the game!

(Just spend your money on a Firebrand. It also has energy hardpoints on a 65ton frame, but is better in every way)

If this thing jumps, I'll buy it.

I already have a jumping 65 tonner with more energy hardpoints than it can realistically use. And my Thud ain't stuck with a butt ugly paint job.

I've always liked the K2. Just something about it that felt "right". If this is a jumping K2 (or a jumping FB), PGI can have my money.

By the way, I like the THUD 5SE too.

Saddly, yes :P

I was hoping for something a little better. Heck, I really wanted a Cat with a C1 torso and a ballistic point in each arm. JJs would have been nice too. It wouldn't have been overpowering (look at the Jagers and even Cataphract loadouts).

Basically this hero is a K2 with an ugly paint job. I wouldn't say worst mech in the game, but I really can't think of any reason to have this mech unless you REALLY like Catapults and want one with a 30% C-Bill booster.

It's sad too. I really like the Catapults in this game, but this mech does not interest me. I have a K2 with a Bucaneer paint scheme (which looks better than this), and many other 30% C-Bill boosted mechs I can use to grind C-Bills (Heck even a Founder's Cat with 25%).

I really think they messed up this one :) .

the paintjob is not that bad... the choosen colors are... a bit garish perhaps but that we can change.

As for the hardpoints... Who knows,

That paint job is awesome. Just make the two colors black and the grin part white. You know you can change the colors right?

I am pretty sure those hardpoints in the arms are ballistics (check out the outlines carefully, you'll see LBX-10s).

Other people have already hinted at that and if it's true, you'll have a double uac or gauss K2, with high-sitting ballistic points, perfect for hill sniping.

The only way that mech is going to remotely be useful is if it gets back the old school torso twist of the closed beta Cats.

If those are ballistics in the arms, why are they capped with laser ports?

Pls, tell me it isn't true D:
!!!

No, seriously, why would they do such a mech ?
(rethorical question obviously, I just hoped for a funky and unique variant, particularly since it has been such a long time coming)

Where? I don't see any ballistics.

If it's not, it's a 65 ton version of the Awesome-8Q.

There seems to be a missile launcher under the left arm. Could be attached to the LT ML. Probably not larger than a 6 tube, if that. Maybe there is a hardpoint on both sides, but the default loadout doesn't have both equipped?

Sounds good to me. Catapults are my favorite mech and I have them all except the champion (I don't see the point in champions really). I also find jump jets to be a waste of space and don't have them on any mech that can use them. Those tons are better spent on weapons, ammo, and dhs imo.

Well, I do think JJs are a nice option (even if I don't use them often).

I do hope that this mech has some additional abilities that can't easily be picked up by a picture, because the visibile weapons loadout isn't impressive (heck, its even less than average for it's tonnage compared to new mechs).

What I mean by this is...Huge quick torso twist (like 300+ degrees) or the ability to fit a larger engine that a Catapult can normally fit (so it can get close to 100kph). Just something interesting about this mech. As it stands, 6 energy hardpoints is just bland.

Too bad, because the camo is far from bland LOL.

From a "competitive" viewpoint you might be right that the Firebrand is the better hero mech.

But there are lots of people that get mechs because they just like them. I couldn't care less about hero mechs but this one will be mine, simply because it's a Catapult and I like them. The only other mech I would buy a hero variant would be the Crusader, if it will ever get into the game. :D

Btw. I can't stand piloting a Jagermech (and I have the JM6-S mastered :)).

Are you blind?

You can even see the lenses of the Lasers in that picture. And pretty clearly, if I might add.
