I wonder if this may herald the Crab medium? I can only hope.

Actually... it's "we get it for free" date is the same as it's "MC release date". It's C-bill release is a few weeks afterwards.

I took great pleasure in making a quick paint knockup of a new signature based on our successful campaign. When the forums fix their space-magic feel free to spread the... CRAB BATTLE!
*EDIT:For some reason it is distorted in the post, my uploaded file should be the required 720x80 pixels
**EDIT 2: Post-judgement Day: Feel free to alter this however you please.

I believe the Crab is a 50 ton mech...
And yes, all the Crabs are energy only mechs, unless a Hero mech changes that. None of them carry AMS stock, so I highly doubt it will be able to equip 2 or 3 AMS within it's hardpoints.
The Crabs will be useful for their shorter profiles, which should make them appear smaller from the front, as well as will make cover easier to obtain. They will however probably be longer sideways, similar to the Jenner and Ravens.
It will be a nice addition to the game, just not one to follow the current meta of the game at this time.

Oh wow, i"m so glad you told me because for some reason I don't have access to sarna.net and can't look at its hardpoints! The crab will be fun but useless (just like the Shadowhawk 5k) if it doesn't get some kind of boon and I was suggesting one.

I suspect that the arms will have lots of energy hard points added into some of the variants. This will help increase the arch of fire for those weapons. You also will have at least 2 energy points that can be used for zombieing. Anything else will probably depend upon quarks and hitboxes.
As far as AMS, I typically only see a dual AMS mount on mechs that had one already stock. In the case of the Uller C arm, it comes with triple AMS stock, which is why it has 3 AMS hard points.
I would imagine the Crab being similar (but different) to the Nova and the Hunchback 4P in it's performance. Should mean it will be a good mech, but maybe not the most powerful mech option for the current game meta.

When they introduce the crab, they should create a new achievement where if you win a match with exactly 50% health, you get the medium crab mech

You should mention that this could reflect the game quite well when RnR is reintroduced (which is planed after CW gets a bit further into the beta)
