Locust has a STD 160 Engine: 160 times 1.4 is 224, rounded up or down to 220/225. Speed will be 178.2 kph with a STD 220 engine (Power rating / tonnage) x16.2 = speed.

Shadow Hawk has a STD 275 engine; 275 times 1.3 is 357.5, or 355/360, depending how they round. Highest speed will be 104KPH.

Thunderbolt has a STD 260 engine; 260 times 1.2 is 312, or 310, rounded down. Max speed will be ~77.2 kph.

BATTLEMASTER has a STD 340 engine; this times 1.2 hits the 400 engine cap, and its max speed will be roughly 76kph.

Thoughts?

If you check the Project Phoenix page, the Locust has a max engine of 170. You're right about the Shadow Hawk. It has a max engine of 360.

The Thunderbolt shares the same tonnage and engine as the Catapult/Jagermech, and their max engine is 315. So I would guess it'll be the same.

The ****? I can understand the Thunderbolt cap, but... why does the Locust have a cap of 170? I thought its base engine was a 160, and that was multiplied by 1.4 to get...

Jeez, a 170 will only give it... wow. 151kph with tweak. I can understand why, but the thing's 20 tons, and barely has anything going for it anyways.

With the speed cap in place, there's no point in the Locust being able to fit anything bigger anyway. If/when they remove or raise the speed cap, yeah, that might be a concern, we'll have to see.

Ugh, so if you want max speed you're going to put 11 tons (out of 20 tons total) toward engine and heatsinks. Doesn't leave much room for weapons and armor. It's basically going to be a SDR 5K without jumpjets, correct?

151pkh is fast as all unholy hell regardless, but from original Battletech to Mechwarrior: Dark Age, the Locust has pretty much been the most obnoxiously fast Mech on the battlefield. Kind of expected a little more zip...

I wouldn't assume too much yet. The Spider is the smallest mech on the field but it's heavier/better armored than the Commando. Size and tonnage don't really cooperate in this game. You can be sure most of the mass will be represented, but that doesn't mean the models are going to be fair.

I agree, and I do not know why some of the spiders got the engine upgrade so they are just as fast as the locust, why would you play a locust over a spider? The Commando I understand as a 20 ton mech has to have some benefit to it, but the spider had already taken the crown from the jenner as the best light when people discovered its magical hit boxes. And now it is faster? Come on! Make the locust fast and change the spider back to the 255 max engine I say.

For a long time people kept asking when PGI was going to remove the engine size limitations.

I always thought to myself, "If they didn't want to restrict a certain chassis speed then why engine cap at all?"

Because they want to restrict a chassis capability, so engine cap will never be removed, only altered.

Nice Necro

Bad Troll... Go back to Blizzard.

Peoples be aloud to voice opinions in old threads. For instance, I once made a topic about a certain achievement not working correctly in a different game. They told me they had no idea when they'd be able to fix it. A year later, I went back to that same thread and said ' still not fixed '. The moderator hopped on and told me not to ' Necro ' old threads. I told him to go {scrap} himself and listen to my needs and feelings because they are at least slightly important.

Oh yeah let me speak for you on this one, I'm guessing something along the lines of:

- cool story bro?
