Is it possible to be warned of patch size before starting. Gives the option of patching at a more convenient time. with large patches sometimes 1971 MBs or more, I could be getting my game fix somewhere else. Please accept my apology if the info is there and I'm missing it.

It's usually the first or second Tuesday of Every Month.
So expect yourself to be unable to play on Tuesdays then, and run MWO to patch Tuesday night.
Otherwise, we sometimes get small background patches now and then. but those are not the massive size you list.
