"Any one ever played this map?"
"Guess we will just wander aimlessly in a game called Stay Alive"
The pre-battle screen is inching closer and closer to being enjoyable and not a time suck between queuing and gameplay. These are 2 suggestions for the next inch towards that goal.
1. Have the mini-map include drop points / bases / zone captures. To my knowledge those are hard points that don't move match to match. Include them on the map. It is completely in cannon for pilots to be briefed on mission objectives - if they've done it in every military operation ever; it stands to reason MechWarrior Mercs don't drop in blind.
"Hey Mav, what are blowing up?"
"The big red moon on the map"
You took the first step enabling people to take lance/company command pre-battle. Bravo! Way to work around the clunky in battle system that takes time to manipulate when speed and position are everything.
2. NOW take it one step further - on our "new mini map" that you gave us above in the pre-battle screen, allow lance / company commanders to set way ponts on that map. Pre game discussion? Strategy between lances? An actual use for taking command? Who needs the 59sec -> 20sec glitch factory, scrap it and give me my full minute to setup a strategy with my team. I believe it was MWO that made me read "Teamwork = Victory" on the load screen.
"HIT THE READY BUTTON!!!"
"Chill, I call this the Annexation of Puerto Rico"
Sure the waypoints on the map from commanders might be difficult to enact, hell having those waypoints transition into battle from pre-battle screen might cook the brains a few coders. I know though that having a Graphics Artist sit down for half a day adding "Points" onto a static graphic is totally doable and fix a Quality of Life issue.
"We'll put some interns on it"
Thanks to Stay Alive, Top Gun, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, Downfall, Little Giants, and The Internship for helping me prove my point.
