This has happened multiple times. I finish a game and then instead of immediately starting a new one, I decide now would be a time to take a quick break. So I do. I leave the game up and running on my computer and take a break. While I'm doing something else my computer goes to sleep mode.
After I finish doing whatever it was I was doing, I decide to come back to MWO and get back to being a death robot. I move my cursor around to wake up my computer. My computer wakes as normal and the game client is still up where I left it (mech bay, home screen, pilot tree, etc).
I click LAUNCH and this is where my problem starts. When I click LAUNCH after waking up from sleep mode, nothing happens. Normally the screen darkens and a "Searching" icon appears. But after waking up from sleep mode, it doesn't, so I wait.
After waiting a short while of nothing happening, (Less then 2 minutes) my screen goes black like it normally does when it changes into the map loading screen before the ready screen. However instead of seeing a loading screen or a ready-up screen, it stays black. I can TAB in and out of the game as normal. I can hear everything going on. I hear people taking and relinquishing company/lance command. I can hear the mech start-up after the countdown timer finishes. I can hear weapons fire and hear the use of jump-jets. I press ESC to bring up the options menu but my screen stays black. One thing of note is that when I AM in the options menu I can see the MWO cursor. I can control it via my mouse as normal, but I can't see any buttons to click on.
If I press alt+F4, the game closes appropriately, but when I log back into the game client it says my mech is "IN BATTLE". So whatever is happening, for good or for ill, I have no control and am therefore hurting my team *sad face*
If I DON'T close out the game and instead stay in the game on black-screen, I hear someone inevitably destroy my mech and the match eventually ends. After the match is over and it auto-boots me from the match after the player results screen closes out, The game auto-closes and I get this warning error:
CryEngine Error
*** Memory allocation for 12979968 bytes failed ****
I start the game back up and everything goes back to being normal. Thoughts? Hints/Tips?
Thank you for your time.

Please don't respond with "Don't click LAUNCH after waking up from sleep mode." because that is helping no one. Thanks!

All kinds of problems are associated with hibernate/sleep mode and many different programs. This is likely one of them. You can try lots of stuff and still not get a solution.
You should disable sleep/hibernate, and simply have the computer shut the monitor down after a certain period of time (I set mine to 15 minutes). Modern computers use very little power at normal idle (about the same as a single CFL bulb) as long as the monitor is powered down, because the CPU and GPU go into idle modes with very low speeds. And the monitor wakes up in only a couple of seconds.

Display turn off is now set to 10 minutes. Sleep mode is now set to never. I will find out if this is related to display turn off or sleep mode. Thank you and I'll be back with updates.
