Hey guys so this is the build I am currently running on my Thunderbolt;

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...27568cb3f8da222

I find I am averaging 250-350 damage a game with this build however I am also usually flushing people out from cover while both teams are playing peek a boo sniper. I find at least for me it is dangerous at all ranges and I can manage my heat very well. But I do feel it may need some refinement so any criticisms or suggestions would be appreciated.

Well, my biggest criticism with the design is that you have predominantly close range weapon systems and an XL engine on a wide bodied mech with a gigantic trashcan on your shoulder. XL is fine on the TDR, but I would go either/or with the XL OR the Missile Pod. Not both.*

*when dealing with a brawler setup - you can get away with more on a ranged configuration.

I would also suggest that if you are going to take an XL 275, take an XL280 instead. Weighs exactly the same.

The following build increases your speed, heat efficiency, and damage output. It still has that problem of a trashcan plus XL combination in a brawling setup, but it does allow you higher ERLLas accuracy and a better answer to the LPLas in the three MLas. The twin SRM4 instead of a single A-SRM6 may be a better choice, as well:

I have also redistributed the ammo and beefed up the leg armor as well. The head, due to its placement, is rather safe for an ammo storage location, and even if it was not, with where your ammo was located before, you probably were going to die in one big spectacular fireball anyways if you got legged.

I've had a lot of luck with the following energy build: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...c0111b6536f7b4. You can replace the LL for ERLL if you need the extra range, but I've found that the ERs run too hot for it's intended role as a brawler.

I was very surprised at how much survivability the STD engine confers on the TDR; it's more than you'd think, and as a brawler it's quite helpful.

I'm not going to make any effectiveness claims, but I am running...

1LLaser, 3 MLasers, 1 LRM10, and 1 A/C10.

It seems pretty descent despite it's jack-of-all-trades loadout.

When it comes to the remaining T-Bolts, I am currently experimenting with the "Rotory PPC" setup. The LH Torso contains 3 PPCs and the remaining hardpoints are MLasers. Then cram all the DHS she can fit with a XL295 or XL305 engine.

The PPCs are in a tight grouping in the LH Torso and I chain fire them for a steady stream of PPCs until the heat get up there. Once heat gets high, revert to MLasers. With the chain fire, I can dish out as many PPC shots as I want easily, so heat management isn't too bad as long as you don't get caught up in battle. The one T-Bolt (5SS I think) does this well with 4MLasers and 3 PPCs, the 9E can only fit 2MLasers, but I have more DHS in it too.

Like I said, can't claim effectivness, but it is an interesting build in any case.

If I could make a single recommendation on your build: Change that LRM 10 to a pair of LRM5. Saves you a ton, faster rate of fire. I ran a similar build before and it worked great, actually. Plenty cool enough for the ERLLas, as well.

I like the TDR-5S "Centurion" build. Play it like a Centurion: rotate your torso (aka look away while your weapons are charging). Dual AC5 is a powerful weapon.

I run 2AC5, ERPPC, 2SRM2, 3ML, XL280 on my TDR-S (I can't go without missiles, the look of the pod is half the reason I got the mech in the first place). The other 2 have mostly a combination of energy weapons:
SS
2PPC - right shoulder
LL - left upper chest
4ML - 2 arm, 2 lower left chest
STD 260
(15DHS)

SE
2ERLL - arm
2ML - lower left chest
LPL - upper left chest
2SRM2 - cuz extra tonnage/slots
STD260
(16 DHS)

Oh, and always DHS and ES, duh.

LL, 3xML, 2xAC5, 3 tons ammo, 12 DHS, endo, ferro, 275 STD scavenged off a SHD. I do ok with it.

Thanks for the recommendation.

The problem, in my experience, is that LRM5 are just AMS food.

It would be if you chainfired. Group firing both lrm5 results in the same mortality rate as a single lrm10 vs AMS.
