(edited)

I am unable to play MWO this evening because I'm getting persistent ''Session was Lost'' error (6 times straight).

The error occurs in between me successfully logging in to the client and before the client retrieves my Mechs loadouts.

Ie. The client successfully retrieves my username, MC credit and CBill balances, but I cannot access the Mech bay and the the ''Session was Lost'' error occurs after about 30 seconds of trying.

Anyone else experiencing this?

The fact that the client can authenticate my log-in, but cannot retrieve my Mechs, says that this is not a local network problem or Internet issue. It must be server side with PGI.

Good question, but I don't think so. At least, I've not noticed it while browsing and otherwise using the Internet.

I had two weird 'lost session' cases today and a buddy of mine even more (4 or 5, not quite sure). By now it seems to have righted itself, but we couldn't discern any reason or pattern, except that both of us are located in Germany... does this apply to you, as well?

Me too. It seems to be most likely on first match after login. (80% session was lost). If I make it into the game, I will get it in the next 4 or 5 matches. Then relogin, if it doesn't say Session was Lost after I enter my password and see the framework of the mechlab, then im back to 80% chance of crashing on first match, then repeat... happening since last patch terribly, didn't happen at all prior to Phoenix mechs' patch.

Working as intended.

Maybe PGI likes having us log in multiple times so the counts go up and they can report more active players than they actually have?

I used to get this sporadically, and it would only happen when I played MW:O.
I would loose it and TeamSpeak simultaneously. basically, my whole internet connection for the computer I happened to be on would need to be rebooted, but the rest of the computers on my network would stay online... so it wasn't the modem bumping.

Originally, I after I re installed my network drivers, it worked great for a while, but lately, it's been happening more frequently, as well as getting random, non-specific BSDs. I can only assume that my onboard NIC is going out.

Getting a new one on Monday, we'll see if that resolves my issue.

It's annoying when it happens at the start of a match.

You are having connection issues.

I am in the midwest US with fiber internet and I have NO issues.

Assuming you have run scans, reinstalled the client, etc, normal basic user troubleshooting then the problem is your connection or your hardware.

Crappy connection or crappy hardware both suck and if you don't have either post your specs.

Onboard ethernet = crappy hardware FYI

My ISP has had equipment issues on my node for the past several months. I would notice short periods of high rate of dropped packets. Usually the weekend. I would run a ping in a separate window all day and noticed that whenever I dropped 4 packets in a row on the ping, I would lose my session.

Of course, Trying to get Comcast to admit it was their problem was impossible. Lately it's been perfect though, so I guess enough people called and complained that they were finally forced to deal with the issue.

I'll start monitoring lost packets.

I honestly don't think it's my ISP or internet connection. If it was, I wouldn't be able to log in first time, every time. The problem I'm experiencing is after I've logged in and before it retrieves my Mechs and loadouts for my Mech Bay.

There were some issues with weird packet loss on the PGI end? I think that was resolved in a patch though...

Have you tried reinstalling your ethernet driver?

You can reset TCPIP with 'netsh ip reset' but maybe read a little more if you aren't familiar with that.

Also do ipconfig /flushdns in command prompt - maybe you have old/bad data in your dns cache.

I tend to think its packet loss and the culpriit may be intenet attacks. When it was happening to me it correlated to a DNS attack choking the Boston and NY hubs. The 5th of novemeber may be intersting as anonymous has an event planned that day.

Best guess I got.

Lets see...
http://mwomercs.com/...pport-feedback/
Top category, split into...

http://mwomercs.com/...feedback-12251/
Here you can post technical problems with the game, so that the developers can fix them

http://mwomercs.com/...-website-forum/
For everything related to the website

http://mwomercs.com/...58-workarounds/
Here you can find or ask for workarounds to specific problems

http://mwomercs.com/...re-accessories/
You need help with hardware problems, this is where you go.

But obviously there is no support forum!

If I have ever seen a bad excuse, to intentionally post in the wrong forum, it's this one!

Thread moved!

Ironically I was looking at the forum titles and not the major section heading. My bad.

Mind you, ''Patch Feedback'' is not intuitively somewhere I'd have thought reporting a general game problem should go anyway. (I thought it was for feedback on patches.)

Anyway, thanks for the links, I do appreciate the detailed response.

I had the exact same problem as the original poster. It lasted all day Sunday. I thought it might be on my end, so I ran the repair tool, and then reinstalled my client. with no success. Then Monday night, the problem was simply gone. I could log in and play as normal.
Frustrating.

Try deleting your shader cache and see if that fixes the issue.

SET shaderpath="D:\Games\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\user\shaders"
SET gamepath="D:\Games\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\Bin32\"

rd %shaderpath% /S /Q
D:
cd %gamepath%
MechWarriorOnline.exe
exit
