Just finding that when i switch all settings between low and very high it does not seem to make much of a differnce. Also it is know that more mechs on screen means less fps I go from 60 to 30 depending on the amount of players on screen but hover around 35-40 in most cases.

This game chews up your CPU while leaving the GPU mostly untouched.
The settings would make a noticable difference only if your GPU was really outdated compared to the processor.
Drawing more mechs on screen will certainly hit you, since not only does it add a number of new meshes to render, but also the GUI overlay, which is pretty intensive computationally.

There are worse examples out there but MWo does indeed have a rather heavy reliability on CPU performance.
Its kinda the oposite of what one would expect from a CryEngine game, but here we have it.
