Everyone seems to think tonnage limits will somehow magically make lights or mediums viable, well let me be the first to tell you it won't. All it will achieve is that someone - perhaps you - will be forced to take to the field in a sub-par 'mech so that someone else can drop in the fun, viable 'mech.

It's going to be an unmitigated disaster unless they come up with proper compensation for the lighter 'mechs.

yeah this has always been an issue because external DHS suck compared to engine ones.

Actually, they don't. They are well aware of the fact that fatties will still generally be the most valuable players on the team, and they want it that way. Even if they don't admit it outright, that's how a lot of the playerbase feels (unfortunately).

What the whole point of this thread should be about is the correcting of DHS to a full 2.0 everywhere. We've had this idiocy of 1.4 DHS for a year now, and it only hurts heavies and assaults to have them there.

Make all DHS 2.0 and it will actually make the heavier mechs use of DHS where it should be.

I find this a brilliantly simple idea. Due to ghost heat... Boating energy for multiple alpha strikes will still be a challenge. But proper 2.0 DHS will give heavies and assaults the option to have better heat efficiency than similarly armed lights.

Do not evern ignore the DPS or HPS because even tho they dont really reflect how the weapon will act depending on its playstyle it will give you pretty solid numbers when it come to how it will behave on the long run. However to count the DPS you also need to take the HPS and calculate the efficiency using both values. These features are present in Smurfy's lab and using it will help you a lot at configuring your mech.

So yeah DPS and HPS are not giving away the real nature of the weapon in therm of playstyle, but they give you the actual efficiency.

That is not true. The only possible way for that to happen is if Teams are self organized under the PUG game type and that won't happen. Take what you want, Hit Launch and the game will look after MM. (whether your a fan or not of the current MM)

In an organized game type, say like CW, the Team decides what is the best setup. If you really don't like that the "Team" gave "you" a supposed sub-par Mech, then wait until another drop, assuming everyone will have to share this imagined pain, or perhaps you are not really a Team player. Don't forget, the is no "I" in Team.

I don't think that.... PGI and Assault pilot seems to hate lights so, it can only get worst. LOL..

In theory it should be help with the ridiculous mismatch in weight due to ELO MM.
Having to fight multiple assaults all the time is annoying.

There won't be any sub par mech if 'you' (us) play all classes.

If you want to boat Heat sinks on a battlemaster, do it right:

BLR-1G

Cooling efficiency 80%, your holy sustained DPS 6.0 with 6 ML. You can fire this forever.

But it's still a joke build. 6 medium lasers are 6 medium lasers, doesn't matter which chassis mounts them. You will never get more than 30 damage per shot out of it.

And as many have said, DPS means nothing in this game, you simply don't have the time to stand in front of anyone and shoot 2 minutes until you overheat, you're dead by then.

And we don't need a WOT mechanic where a weapon on a better tank deals more damage, system is fine how it is.

Heat system itself is not, but that's another story.

BLR-1G
61 alpha followed by 11.78 DPS, followed by a 30 damage burst to finish whatever you're shooting at. Who needs heat sinks.
