Primarily I would like to see the old function of the Gauss retuned if not paired with PPC'S.

Alternatively as it stands we could try losing the reload altogether with the charge only and lengthening the time to fire. In essence the charge is the reload.

Seeing as Battlemaster, T-bolt, Dragon, Highlanders etc have this as their best balistic a review needs to take place on this weapon in light of the power ac20 capable mechs have over them now.

As i statded in previous threads AC20 AC10 2XAC5 + PPC combos are being used so why should Gauss suffer to the extent that it has.

Even as a sniping weapon you are now exposed for longer and it places you in danger trying to time the shot etc.

Biggest thing here is you have blackjacks and shadowhawks that can use an ac20 and a battlemaster that must resort to a ac10 to brawl...Gauss would even it up somewhat and be cool.

i use to hate the new charge implementation of the gauss rifles. Having practiced with them, i've actually learned to like it better (though the real reason is because they fly faster). The one thing i want changed is either less heat on the PPCs or make the PPCs fly faster. They are kinda like a lightning weapon right? doesn't lightning travel real fast?

Ac10 isn't thaT great is it really, i think people should have an option with the gauss mechanic it does not stop me stepping into a highlander with an ac20 and 2 ppc.

i am utterely f'ing disgusted as to how {Scrap} Heavy Metal is now owned by jager, owned by victor, owned by atlas, owned by BJ owned by everything with superior ballistic power.

What an interesting statement.

That's 4 ballistic mounts. The heaviest 'mech with 4+ ballistic mounts - are jagers: JM6-S and -DD. It has 20 slots in total in its arms (where all 4 ballistic mounts are placed). AC20 = 10 slots. AC10 = 7 slots. 2xAC5 = 8 slots. 10+7+8 = 25. Means, Jager is 5 slots short and can't mount all these ACs.

And, if you meant "Ac20 + AC10" combos and also "2xAC5 + PPC" combos - then neither is any comparable to 2xGauss, since the former lacks range (AC20 is short range) and also projectiles have much different speed, and the latter is lacking in damage (20 total vs 30 of dual-gauss).

I am at a loss here. %)

Actually, he's copying and pasting comments from a previous thread where Sandpit soundly debunked most of his statements already.

This one. People arguing back and forth over whether or not gauss is ruined, better, balanced, not, etc. etc. etc.

I'll be honest the above mech was my go to mech I now have to hold a button 4-5 times depending on situation with no shot possibly whilst an ER-LLAS raven can plink away at me with no worry in the world as opposed to one tap.

Whoever thought of the mechanic did not consider the hours of gameplay that people invest into this game and how such a mechanic may induce strain on a specific location on a persons hand over long periods.

I asked a guy that is into programming games and he reckoned that if not stacked with PPC the old mechanic could be implemented as an option very easily.

I do pretty well with my heavy metal now, I just dont use the gauss any longer, I use MG's and the ppc, set up, i seldom get owned by any single mech. That being said i think the gauss is worthless as it is right now, i have tried and practiced and forced myself to use it many times and still its not close to putting out the damage as say 2 ac5, or ac5/ac2 mix. Just to long of a reload time, cut that in half and still do the silly release fire and it would be ok, or dump the silly release fire all together and keep the time frame. The ppc/ac20 combo on my 733 is alot more powerful then the gauss/ppc set up i used before, mid-range its stupid the amount of damage it can do.

There are options they can look into to make the weapon viable again..hopefully.
