Hello all! So once I was able to run the MC2 mission editor. However, the computer I ran it on got formatted, and now I am unable to run it. So what are the software requirements to run the editor (Google was no help)?

Sorry, I don't think I can help you, all I can say is that I play MC2 using the Wolfman X expansion, or actually the Rebirth Of The White Company campaign, which is stand alone and can be downloaded here:

http://www.wolfman-x.net/

It works like a charm, even on Windows 8.

But, man. Good times. I love the MC series and spent a lot of time tinkering around in the Mission Editor back in the day. I had this awesome idea for a campaign, it was supposed to have 25 rather long missions. I actually started working on it and completed the first mission. And I thought it sucked. I stopped at that point, because I found it surprisingly hard to build a decent map. And I found it quite annoying to mess around with stuff like AI brains for enemy mechs, purchasable item lists, etc.

Too bad, because I really liked my idea.

I actually can (and have) done most of the AI/purchase stuff. I just need to be able to figure out the darn software. It is some kind of XNA build and something else...

Hi,

Yes, it is the XNA Build (or something with a similar name) and you will also need the Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable package (either this: http://www.microsoft...ls.aspx?id=5555 or this: http://www.microsoft...s.aspx?id=14632). I assume you are using either the MC2 vanilla installation or Wolfman's mod/stand-alone version.

If you are using the MechCommander OmniTech mod, the XNA Build software is unneccessary, as of the latest version.

Good luck with the editor, and I hope this ^ helps :P

So is any XNA build good or is there a specific one?

I'm quite sure there is only one build, and it can be found here: http://www.microsoft...s.aspx?id=11253

Hope this helps
