I was reading another thread, and it made it sound like if you die in game normally. . . and instead of spectating to the end of the match, you go back to your garage to start another game. . . that you lose out on c-bill and xp bonus.
Is this true or false.
Please tell me if you KNOW this is true or false, and how you know. Not just what you "think" is the case.
Thanks!

If I told you they were lost would you stick around and maybe help the team out? You can still type in things that the person you are spectating won't have time to type in for the rest of the PuG. "3 heavies H4" is really helpful and the living don't always have time to give us that info.

You will only receive rewards obtained before you disconnected. To earn in-match rewards such as assists, you must observe/participate in the match. To earn end-of-match rewards. you must participate until the end of match or die before the end of match.
Disconnecting before being destroyed should result in no rewards beyond those earned at the point of disconnection.
Disconnecting after being destroyed should result in match rewards being earned.
In-Battle Awards such as Assists will be awarded after death, though this is not confirmed final.
In-Battle Awards such as Assists will not be awarded after disconnection.

Looking for a post that's a little clearer but If you die in the match and then dc, you will get match rewards like the Win Bonus. But you will not get credit for any assists you get after you dc.
You only get assists after death if you stay in the match. This is to prevent people from farming by suicide charging the enemy group just to tag them all with a weapon, die, dc, and get assist money.

Well that's disappointing.
Just means I will leave the game running, then alt-tab to another game, and play it for a while before coming back to MWO.
Poor design decision.

So you /might/ lose 15,000 C-bills on an assist if you bail early... really worth sticking around?
I mean if you're a cheese light that runs through and hits everyone with a medium laser at the beginning of the match, sure it's probably worth it... otherwise not really.

Man: That's written funny …
Since you have to be alive to earn a kill, assist, launch a UAV, or anything else you can name, it's obviously fine to leave once you've died.
Putting in a good faith effort does more for your bank account then some {Scrap} you may have head about … But not much seems to count: To get a spotting assist, someone else needs to fire LRMs at something you've put on the sensor net, and that's a rarity; Pointing out where the enemy main body is, through any means you can think of, doesn't yield XP or cash, and often doesn't get your team to do anything with useful …
