If they can make a preference for drop mode why can't PGI make a preference to select not to include Non Faction pilots in a drop?

Solo drop pilots will never ever be as good as they can be vs playing in a group. But solo pilots, non faction pilots will never get to experience elevated play, competition play because they simply refuse to join a group/faction for one reason or another.

I would like to see a preference that allows me to drop in a match where non faction pilots are not included. I care about non faction pilots as much as they care to join a group.

you do realise that the only difference between faction/non-faction is just a few clicks of the mouse and nothing to do with skill?

And, on top of Faction/non-aligned pilots comment above, group and solo queue are also completely separated, which addresses the other half of the thread. Groups only ever fight groups (at this current time). there are no solo PUG within the group queue.
