It might sound blasphemous but if necessary, I'll trade boxy energy hardpoints for regular ears any day.

Working on it right now, hope you guys like the visual update and re-scale.

Thank you for posting Arman; I don't mind being wrong in this instance.

I hope you guys bear in mind that we've been waiting for this for over two years; please do it right this time.

I'm both excited and nervous for the redesign. The mech was already sexy from the get go but even then it could end up being even sexier, which would be totally awesome. But it could also end up being rather disappointing and end up uglier than now.

And yeah, I too would probably dislike if they removed some of the unique chassi-specific weapon geometry for the standardized "black box" that so many mechs use. I can understand the reduction in resource usage but sometimes you just shouldn't cut corners.

So the visual upgrade will stay close to the original model and add a few things here or there, i wouldn't get to worried about it completely changing. it more of a slight evolution of the original design than a total re-imagining.

also regarding the animation seeing as how we re-scaled the mech it should be fairly plausible to re-use the original animation ( no promises as im not in charge of animation ) so the original animation should stay if there are no crazy complications during the mech building process.

Regarding the missile boxes i have yet to dive in too deep with the variant models but we will be going to one box for each arm and making sure we do not have a vcr situation.

On that note i would like to apologize for how the original retrofit turned out as it was actually my first one that i completed when i first started at piranha and didn't realize how important certain aspects of a mech were perceived by the community. back then the changes that we completed made sense but as i worked on more retro-fits during the past 2 years it has become pretty evident that the changes made on the catapult were a miss-step.

with that being said i hope to make it up to you guys with a updated and re-scaled catapult that the fans deserve.

That is good news... Thanks

I hope we see similar actions to more mechs... (like timber wolf secondary missile boxes)

Thank you for your understanding. For many of us, Mechwarrior is a sudo-religion. I'm not sure if an apology is warranted and if forgiveness appropriate because it was through no fault of your own. I certainly don't blame you. I'm glad that you got to experience this evolution in appreciation for the finer points of the genre. :)

Hehe, bet you didn't expect what kind of hot water you'd end up.

Regarding the animation, I always liked how Cat looked walking around... very elegant.
Hopefully founder Cat won't bet getting too much newfangled cosmetics, at least I like mine with the distinct sharp beak Posted Image

Hmm, actually now that I am looking at it... it does not need nearly ANY work (Except chassis re-sizings which may be due), it is perfect. The weaponpods for lasers on torso, look nice. PLEASE don't put those square laser thingies on the it, pretty please. No matter how they say that "they must be used" Posted Image

EDIT: Good luck :P

Actually in the case of large launchers I like the additional boxes, however the thinly filled ones, not so much
I mean, for 4xlrm15s I don't want huge Mickey Mouse ears, this is much better Posted Image in Disneyland I can totally get the Mickey thing, but .. please no

Thanks a lot for posting here. It feels really nice to read your thoughts. better late than never. Now seriously, thank you.

Please take in consideration the following suggestions if possible:

If not dynamic sized, launcher could be the size of the original lrm15 ones. Only the C4 had the current big ones.
Launcher doors are important.
if possible maintain the current laser style avoiding the new square ones.
No black boxes or zones without color like the centurion armor the dragon arm.
If possible no tiny ballistics for the K2 like the jagger mech.
Visible LT/RT ppcs through the cockpit are cool.

Any preview at any time could be great for feedback.

Thank you again for your time your work and dedication.

Thanks for the responses Posted Image.

Hmm... I'm going to admit something - I definitely was heavily sarcastic and mocking of the catapults re-design, i probably bashed it as hard as I could.
In my mind at the time, I forgot that there’s people working on this, and not machines. I let slip that fact that when I started my new job 5 years ago, there was a learning curve with it. I made mistakes, I had to do things that I knew nothing about, but I did my best and carried on. Years later, when I became more experienced, I learned where I went wrong. Had I known, I would have done it differently, but hindsight is 20/20, right? There was no way of knowing, and the only way to know, is to do.
You didn’t know, you just did, now you know.
We live and learn. But even with a cliché saying such as that, I forgot that it applies to others other than myself.

So, I’d just like to apologize to you. Really, sincerely.

One thing that helped me improve was positive feedback, even though I was making mistakes, I was still doing my job and people around me would keep offering support.
I can only imagine that receiving that kind of reinforcement in this industry is a lot harder to come by, but it's essential.
So, keep up the good work. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

I always considered the arm on a cat to be the tube that comes out of the torso, not the missile box, so I really hope dynamic boxes can be worked in kind of like the Timberwolf.[But not multiple boxes on each arm] In the training grounds we can compare a scale human to the mech, judging by the cockpit the Cat looks like it was made normally but then scaled up like 30%.

Any chance we can see some of the WIP before it's released? A little teal in the forums goes a long way to keeping people happy good job!

Thanks for the update!

Request: can we get boxes that vary in size with number of tubes? :o It would look pretty silly to have a 2xSRM4 CPLT-C1 to have the same size boxes as a 4xLRM10 CPLT-C4, or for a 2xSRM2 CPLT-C1 to have the same size boxes as that 2xSRM4 CPLT-C1.

The Catapult was fine until you guys messed with the arms, but the rescale will be appreciated.
