It's mostly the fact I love my Catapult that I even bring it out. But damn, I do feel like I can't be missed when I'm piloting it. The one thing that is good for is "Learn to TWIST or DIE".

Unfortunately, they also 'fixed' the A1, and I mean fixed like you do to your pets. If you add extra missile launchers over the first, it adds extra missile launchers to the outside of the missile box. Use three LRM5s? Sorry, only 5 tubes fit under the armored cover. The rest make your arms wider and taller ... with extra external launchers. Three SRM4s? Same problem ... only 4 tubes fit under the cover. A 15 and two streaks? I mean, really now. The A1 was tough enough to pilot already; with all six hard points being M and clustered in each arm. But now to add oversize novelty 'ears' to an A1 that actually uses those hard points ... that's just mean.

It seems reasonable to me than 15-20 tubes should fit under the armored box cover. Why was this even messed with?



They still never fixed the Loopy bucket's arms. I can fire through terrain all day long.

Isn't it the "mechlab treatment" we are looking to have ... fixed?

Generally speaking, I would be happy if you just started rolling the game back to its original Open Beta launch. The more you touch things, the more they seem to... poopify.

Resource hog, and the change didn't come until much, much, much later, after multiple other changes that made the missiles form an ugly X pattern.

After long enough, looking at pre-change Catapults just makes you sad. They used to be nice looking 'mechs.

PGI, please donate to cancer research to cure the A1 and other unfortunate robots like it that now suffer from METAL BOXES deformities and terminal Legoitis.

Because the new Battlemaster hero is paper-bag ugly thanks to this, too.

I was testing the timber wolf for my self the other day, man that thing hits hard, its far better than the catapults, its faster, more armored, and can pack more weapons, easely outperforms the catapult c4 and c1, has beter ballistic and energy builds than the k2/jester, can't match the a1 missile hardpoints but can pack a lot of back up weapons instead.

The catapult main advantages are:
Torso twist, upper energy hardpoints (pretty handy if you know what are you doing but not enough), the a1 hard points and the IS lrms (not always).

Catapults are not the most outperformed mechs of the game but can be easily fixed with some quirks.

About the only thing the K2 MIGHT do better than the Timberwolf, is the Ballistics. I only say this because of the FLD of the IS mechs. A dual A/C10 Cat K2 can put down some good damage and with a descent reload time.

Other than that, the Timberwolf is pretty much guarenteed to be better than any other Catapult variant.
