I wish to discuss about those heavier then lead behemoths from the point of lore.

As I remember Clans use to be caring for their resources and avoiding waste of them as munch as possible. I know those solid gold Mech should be representation of ultimate might and status in Clan society, even more they should be piloted only by Khans themselves.

But question still arose - aren't those gold Mech wasteful? Making it an insult.
And would a Khan ever pilot something as decorated as that?

It's whale bait bling bling marketing nonsense. It leaves a pretty bad taste in my mouth for anything like that be it expensive alcohol/clothes or omni-mechs.
