My max so far is just over 6000 cbills. Anyone gotten higher?

I'll get around to trying it out. However, 6k is woefully low, considering the 40k cost. I have invested in the upgrades, so.... we'll see.

yeah being able to earn 15-20K or even 12K reasonably easily would help with the cost. same for arty & air strike to recoup some costs.

Meaningful rewards would assist in the viability of scouting, and light 'mechs in general. In other words, don't expect meaningful rewards.

So, here's some info:

The UAV detection bonus:
500 C-bills + 25XP per mech detected within 5 seconds (doesn't appear to repeat)

The UAV spotting bonus:
2100 C-bills + 25XP per missile volley (tested only in Assault, it may be less in Conquest, likely to be the same for spotting, which AFAIK is 1099 C-bills per missile volley)

In sum, you are not able to recoup the value of the UAV if LRMs are not involved. My suggestion is to DOUBLE the detection bonus (the new bonus will be 1000 C-bills), since you are capped @ 6000 C-bills (12 players on the field).

If you are using the UAV as a spotter, you have only 1 min tops to rake in the dough with a missile boat. To some degree, regular spotting and TAG is cheaper. UAV is using the exact same rewards that spotting would have given you.

What this means current is that the UAV is still only useful in 12-mans, but if you want to "convert C-bills into XP" easily, a UAV is an OK investment... getting 300XP max for 40k of C-bills and more when LRMs are involved.

Double the rewards for detection and it'll be fine. Otherwise, it's simply NOT fine as is.

Unless the reward exceed the cost of the module, this can never really reward scouting. if I want to play a mech killer, I can do that without costly consumables*, if I want to play a scout, i get less rewards and pay for a consumable?

I don't think that can work out.

I really did a double-take when I saw the line about UAV in the patch notes.

Really?

We've been clamouring for increased rewards for scouts/spotters for ages, and you decide to put it on a freaking module?

How about I get to split the CB/XP 50-50 with the firing 'mech if I hold/TAG/Narc a target for indirect fire? How about you give us scouting bonuses for just, you know, detecting enemies? How about you do something that doesn't involve us spending a heap of CB/GXP to get a pitiful, not-even-covering-the-cost reward?

That might be an interesting bonus for spotters:
Love XP at first sight.

If you're the first to see an enemy mech, you get 20 XP and 1,000 C-bills.


The UAC rewards however are basically a "turn C-Bills into XP" mechanic.

That would be the easiest way to reward what actual scouting involves. UAVs aren't used for first sight scouting, it's just a complete waste. You use them during a push after a standoff, or in other combat situations where you already have a good idea of where the enemy in general is.

They seem to be able to flag when a target is an initial unique target, so I feel like there's another reason they haven't implemented it.

Exactly. Just a minor reward for doing scouting.

You could even make it so that it triggers for an enemy that has been undetected (i.e. not displayed on minimap or HUD) for some time (say, 30 seconds or a minute) so as to keep scouting relevant reward-wise throughout the match.

Why were we expecting more from these bonuses? I guess they don't really consult people that use the UAV often... or use it themselves enough in high level games to understand its usage.
