Just a quick suggestion on how to get players to choose a side for faction warfare to get players sucked into the idea that the universe is at war. Try this idea, I would fail the community and fans that love the game so much with out posting something about it. I'm liking the ideas for community warfare and it is an amazing setup for this game. I just watch the lecture via YouTube posted by Kobayashi Red and I enjoyed your ideas on what you want Community Warfare (CW) to be.

So here is my idea for life of as mercenary. (no merc units just new players and players that enjoy just playing for the fun of the game and those who want to get into the right or correct faction)

When a player plays as a merc they receive not just contracts from a universal corporation that controls these "contracts" given out to players. Have them get contracts from factions. Maybe have them kill a rival faction player or help out a faction during a match or better yet goal achievements for the day. Also have a tracking system of telling players what faction they are most loyal to and giving them a little benefits to give them a taste of what faction he/she would like to be part of. This will get players to feel like they are still part of community warfare and not forcing them to join a side until the player feels like they need to be part of the bigger picture. Doing this will ease the player into the community warfare. Plus keep the contracts random or maybe one from each faction. Another idea here have a loyalty bonuses for mercs that do contracts from a particular faction, not so much giving them discount bonuses to mech factories and other benefits (or maybe you do give them a little taste), but maybe a loyalty exclusive basic colors and or skin for players that have been loyal to that faction, or some other form of award like a medallion for saying thanks for supporting this faction. Some players would be saying(I'm sure not exact) "Cool I just unlocked a cool basic skin and colors to go with it, I might want to join this faction" and brag to their buddies too, sucking in more players to play the faction warfare.

But I don't know if you guys want to do this, this might just ruin merc life. There are some down sides to it. This is forcing new players to grind to get new colors and new skins for their mechs or medallions that they really want but don't want to take the time to do it. So they will play a few matches and decided that its taking too long to get what they want. Plus I have no idea if we should take away the skin or keep it unlocked for the player that accomplishes the faction loyalty requirements, I say we let them keep it. Another might be it pushing the player to choose a side early and we defiantly don't want that, we want the player to make their own choice.

The one thing that I would hate to do when I just started playing a game is to grind like crazy to get somewhere in the game. Awards should be earned in good amount of time spent playing the game but not to the point where you have to play over 50+ matches in a day to get something, and that's why we have the cadet bonus.

I don't know its just an idea what do you guys think? I left a poll up for people that don't want to post any comments on this, but still would like to put their two cents in. Hopefully developers take a look at this idea and give it some thought. Its up to you guys, the community, to bring in new players and get the word out there that MechWarrior online is a great game. So please post additional ideas or criticism. If this is not added I will not be unhappy with the game I will still always enjoy playing MechWarrior.
