I'm looking for some good alternatives for some Tabletop Maps.

I'm running a few Battletech games at a con later, and while I have miniatures and a Geo-Hex set, my collection of Miniatures is lacking and doesn't offer the flexability I'd like in mech choice (Though I should look at my unpainted ones and see if that would help, I have more Clan mechs that I'd want, since I'm doing an IS event), and Geo-Hex is large and not as portable as I'd like. I also have some old maps and paper models, but they're from the 2nd Edition set (though I have one map expansion pack).

Are there any paper maps out there for sale still? Is there any good resource for printing them out (Not sure I want to do that either)? Any other ideas of options I could use? I'm looking for a 1-2 lance per side skirmish, so not sure if I need anything huge, and I don't want to spend a lot of cash if I can avoid it.

First where is this Con and when? If NE USA I might be able to attend and could bring almost every map printed. Or my custom 3d terrain board, you think your Geo Hex is rough to move... Look in my posted topics to see pics etc etc.

Failing that there is always Heavy Metal Map which you could take to your local staples and get a few maps printed somewhat cheaply. Say 4 maps for around $16 if you print each map onto four pages and make do, or more expensive if you go for one large map etc etc.

And as a mech to map reference the book states one lance per map for a good mix of manuever and close enough to brawl. ;)

Why not just convert to terrain instead of hexes? Its so much more visually fun to use terrain and do away with hexes. ( I know I'm a purist too but the terrain and measuring tape works well)

Might I recommend Heavy Metal Map? It allows you to make and print out your own custom maps.

Small, somewhat private, and local, sorry. :) It's primarily an RPG con, but I know a few folks who would play TT Battletech.

I after reviewing the maps I had, I think I can deal with them. I don't expect about half the people playing to have played Battletech prior, so keeping it somewhat simple is the plan. I wanted some variety as well as space. I'll just have to see how to best set them up (2x2 grid, 1x3 or 1x4, which maps work best where, etc).

http://pyromancers.c...painter-online/

It can do hex or square maps too.

Ironicly they also hate when you do not spend time looking for an old post that is appropriate to the topic you start.....really you cannot win heh.
