This is strictly my opinion but I would advise new players to stay away from the Atlas while learning this game.
The game is already unforgiving as is and asking a new player to pilot an Atlas or other multi weapon assault like the Atlas is a tall order.

I've died awfully every time I tried to pilot an atlas, a centurion with ultra ac5 large pulse and srms + ams is handfuls enough.

For every Atlas trial that gets piloted, there's likely a fully outfitted and customized Atlas on the opposing team. So I do advise practicing with the other mechs first.
