We are expecting two brief connection outages, affecting all services; Once near the start (around 8PM PST), once at the end (around 3AM PST) of this 7 hour maintenance window.
It is possible that connectivity or latency may be negatively affected during this maintenance period. We will be monitoring the situation and will keep you updated.
The listed times are subject to change and extension.
Thanks

It sucks for you if you spent premium time for today.

Yea you're right, they should just never maintain their servers so people don't have to deal with the inconvenience of 2 brief outages over a 7 hour period

They should maintain servers, but a day of premium time to compensate would generate a ton of goodwill. Make people happy, and all it will do is cost you a few thousand dollars. Charge the marketing team for the lost revenue.

TBH, this should have been coming a long time now (the server downtime/maintenance).
The difference is that if you run premium time, you don't have control over these things. If you had like the 1 or 3 day premium time, this should have been posted 24 hours in advance. The ETA of the current announcement is < 9 hours. That isn't really a great warning. Heck, even weather forecasts (as bad and random they can be) are provided 24 hours in advance. I'm sure they had some idea this was coming, but leave it to the day of the maintenance? That's not good timing.

Any goodwill that was generated would be quickly forgotten and people would just start expecting it every time there was an issue.

Like this guy. The clock ticks while you are choosing to sleep, while you choose to eat, and also when you chose to work, FYI. You waste more money upsizing your value meal than you would get back for this outage.

They can't cater to everybody's schedules who play this game and have premium time going.
Are people reading this as 7 hours' outage?
Cause it's not

2 outages, and 7 hours of possible performance issues.
I'm ok either way, to be honest. Just trying to help PGI out.

He does say "brief connection outages", which is probably just a reset (15-minute usually). People just want to make a stink about anything they can make money off of. It's the same reason coffee cups have the stupid "contents may be hot" warning - some ***** burned themselves just to sue the company and make money, so now businesses have to have a disclaimer that coffee is hot...

The data center is doing maintenance, not PGI, or at least that's how I read it.
