So, yeah, my Names Bishop Steiner, and I'm an Urbanmech addict.

I design other things, but the Urbanmech, and in particular, my "Deputy Dawg" series of custom Urbies, well those are my babies. And this topic is to encourage the rest of your Urbie Freaks to come out of the closet and shine that Freak Light with pride!

::::Edit:::: Not mine, but amazingly glorious...and Urbie

Buckaroo Banzai sucked but I still love watching it. The Urbie is a slow, weak and honestly kinda lame, so that makes it cool.

AHH Bishop you're killing me! You know I really want to get going on this, I'm having to force myself to look away untill I've finished all the stuff for the KGC ..curse you, curse you!!! And yeah, despite how it might or might not play..I think theres a lot of character in the urbies design.

What is everyone's obsession with the Urbanmech. It is one of the most pathetic mechs and looks like a Pop can on legs. WHAT IS THE OBSESSION I DON'T UNDERSTAND!!!!!!!

Nice pics though.

same reason some people like old station wagons. By being the anti-cool, they become cooler.

And honestly, used right in 3025 TT, I ruined a LOT of peoples days with my Urbie Lance. Just don't expect a fast battle, lol.
Also, in the DDs case, having an 86 kph top end DID help them out a bit.

Wasn't there a thread very similar to this back in ye olde closed beta days? Good to see the Urbie getting some love again, the Fancy Mech bobble head has been a staple of my cockpit since it came out. Oh, and as always, fantastic artwork Bishop.

Back in the MW4 days I ran an Urbie from time to time, cracking Fatlas domes with my Gauss Rifle. They never saw it coming.

I like the Urbanmech too, it adds a dash of reality to Btech - not all mechs are awe-inspiring collusi of war. Some are rough and slow and made as cheap as possible.

But it is still a battlemech and could vapourise you, flatten your car and demolish your house without any effort.

When someone makes a 1/35th pefect grade series of Battlemechs the Dawg has got to be in there

The HWG from TF2 has a statement about that.
Cannot remember the exact wording (it was from his Meet the X video) but it was something along the lines of:
"I have yet to see anyone outsmart a bullet"
Or in this case:
"I have yet to see someone outrun a bullet" :)

Very nice pics. Your DD variants have personality, which is something I really like in a ride.

I would roll with this mech. The thought of fast Urbie's scare me.

As to why everyone has such an obsession with Urbie, Marack, is that it's like the little mech that could. It's underpowered, and looks hella goofy, but that's part of the appeal. It's an underdog and if I may so bold to say it, everyone loves (and if they say they don't they're lying or they should) an underdog. That's the appeal.

That and a decent pilot in the right terrain can be a nightmare in an Urbie.

The Urbanmech would work particularly terrible in M:WO. But these designs are just too good and too entertaining. At least in its stock configs. But hey, pretend for a moment we would give it commando mech level engine limits (instead of following the usual formula), and at least Champion, Hero and custom versions could work.

Maybe MW:O should just make an Urbanmech as free mech available to everyone on the 2 year anniversary or something like that.

The hero Urbie would be called SuperUrbie and have a huge S on the front. I wonder what super hero it would be like?.....
