On November 11th, all across the commonwealth (Not the Federated Commonwealth mind you) we'll be marking and remembering all those that have and continue to serve, have lost their lives or have been injured in the line of duty.

As an international community we all mark and commemorate our fallen warriors in some way. Given that the last of the WW1 veterans are passing away and that we still continue to have soldiers serving on active duty, Remembrance Day/Veterans Day isn't something we should let slip by unmarked.

This coming Remembrance Day I would like to ask PGI to consider at hosting a Charity Drive or even an Event to mark Remembrance Day. It could be a sale, with a certain percentage going to charity. Whatever is feasible.

I feel this is all the more important that we continue to come together, as a community, for a cause. If we can do so for the Canadian Cancer Society, I certainly think that we, as virtual warriors can help. I'll gladly donate, who else is with me?

Suggestions:

- Give us a special skin/decal, cockpit deco ie. Poppies
- At 11:11am pause combat for a moment of silence
- Support a local veterans association, or charity (see below)

While I support this in principle, given the time it took to get the Sarah's mech charity drive up and running (yes, PGI should have some lessons learned from that but it is probably charity specific . . .) I am guessing this isn't really practical on this short of a notice.

Not this year, no. Too short notice. I'd rather they take the time to plan it so it isn't half-donkey'd, if you follow.

LOL. I get you. Its too bad since something would be really thoughtful. I'd gladly drop another Project Phoenix worth for November 11th.

As has been said before, it's probably too late to do anything this year, however what I would like to see is anyone who is ingame at 11:00 on the 11th power down for the silence. I feel this is the least we can do to show our respect for those that have paid the ultimate price in the defence of our freedom.

11:00 by which time zone? GMT? US/Canada East Coast? US/Canada West Coast? PGI Time (whatever zone they use, I don't know off the top of my head)? Nice idea, but difficult to implement. Besides, the whole 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month thing was a ridiculous contrivance that only prolonged the fighting and cost more lives. That's not a decision I'd chose to honor.

Yeah, just no. Nice principle but I can already see people trolling the whole moment of silence thing. And if you ment pause the servers or something that would just **** people off. Maybe next year when they have some time to plan it out.

Its sad but true, I have heard of people trolling similar events, normally connected with the passing of one of their team, but in other genres. As for the 11, 11, 11 thing this is historically all we have in place as a set point in time that is universally recognised for remembrance; it doesn't actually bother me how they arrived at it, just that it exists.

There will always be trolls and they will always complain. Its not a valid reason to not honour Remembrance Day. If that were the case nothing would be accomplished for fear of trolls doing what they have nothing better to do.

As for what time zone. Its PGI's game, they can choose, most likely GMT-5 since its their game and based in that time zone. Remembrance day is not just Canadian, but there are about 53 other nations in the Commonwealth and its Veterans Day in the US.

Doing something, even just marking the day would be better than nothing.

I'm not suggesting they release some new Unseen mech with poppies or develop a new map/style of gameplay or UI for November 11th.

If we as a community can raise money for a good cause once and make a huge impact, it shouldn't just be a one-off instance.

Not saying not I don't support the idea of it. Its a nice thought, but that nice thought will prob get **** on by all the trolls, is what im saying. Either way its not going to happen this year, to short notice, like I said though its possible for next year.

Not sure how it could be construed as "short notice" Its not like its a surprise birthday party or anything. Its been a solemn day that has been marked since World War One. As for the trolls, forget them. They'll always be there to troll and be trollish in their behaviour.

A few issues:

1. Who`s 11:11? Auckland? Tokyo? Bangalore? Tel Aviv? budapest? London? New York? dallas? Los Angeles?

Or just stop once an hour evertime it becomes 11:11 somewhere?

2. Not every country in the world is the USA, and many will not be pleased at being forced to observe your holidays

For example, in regions of Europe where German is spoken, the 11.Nov at 11:11:11 marks the beginning of KARNEVAL (aka "The 5th Season")... this is generally celebrated with the exact opposite of a minute of silence.

It`s not that they don`t respect our holidays and traditions. But they do not force their holidays on us and expect the same treatment in return. This is what is referred to as "tolerance"

As a US Citizen in Germany, I do not support this idea. I have enough german and international holidays throwing sand in the works without having to observe US holidays on top of it. Especially on such short notice whre it is practically guaranteed to go wrong due to time constraints (just look at how long the Sarah Jenner took to do properly, and how many idiots still have their panties in a bunch about it... now imagine 20X as many idiots because there only 1/20th of the time left to plan it).

You're a US citizen, but don't know that Remembrance Day isn't a US holiday? :)

I take Sarahs mech out quite often. I'm not to good with lights but I feel this one is special it is infused with a spirit of a small warrior. Something that is better then a Hero mech. Though still wish it were a hero mech but even if it isn't it is still a Hero mech in my book. I still need alot more training with it.
