I've been playing the game since closed beta October 2012 with the same system. The last patch made it where the game will no longer start due to USB port set up.

When I start the game, it shows the patcher however after hitting play, the screen goes black and does not progress to the login screen. If I unplug my USB keboard, the game goes to the login screen now.

Any reason why that is happening? Given I'm user all Razer hardware, and their gear is ergonomically great for gaming, but their drivers/hardware sucks balls.

It's not the USB hardware specifically, as I have all Razer USB stuff too (BlackWidow Ultimate 2013 keyboard and Taipan mouse) -- and I haven't had even one problem with it.

I don't run the Synapse software though. Perhaps that's it?

I'm reinstalling synapse now. I don't have it on and the game is running into issues.

It is the USB preventing the game from playing. Pull out the keyboard and MWO works. I have no problem with Civ V or Xcom with my set up. My computer is new and significantly above specs and runs the game at 90 FPS.

Yeah its very weird. Unplug the keyboard and get the game to start finally and as soon as I plug the keyboard back in the logging in process stops and prevents the game from going to the final login screen.

sounds like it's time for a new keyboard.

Um no. The keyboard works fine and its state of the art. The only software that has any problems is MWO. I would be inclined to believe that if a Deathstalker Ultimate keyboard works with games from:
Firaxis,
DICE,
Bioware,
Crytek

But can't work with Piranha, a smaller game developer without the resources that the larger studios have, the problem is with Piranha coding issues and not the keyboard.

Given, MWO has been reduced to the 5 hours week, I'm bored lets see if they fixed the game yet category on my hard drive, so its probably not worth a new gaming keyboard to fix Piranha's coding difficulties.

Windows 7 Hotfix 1

I have already done:
-repair tool
-uninstalled all C/Net and then reinstalled
-latest video card / mobo drivers installed
-all current windows patches installed
-uninstalled and reinstalled MWO

Unplug the motherboard, and the game continues, plug it in through the USB and the game stops. No other game is having issues with the keyboard.

Do you have another open USB port you can move the keyboard to? If so, does issue follow the change in port?

Do you have a spare keyboard? If so does the issue continue with a different keyboard in the same USB port?

Have you tried leaving synapse uninstalled and plugging in the razer keyboard?

Chances are you have already tried some/all of this, just stepping through what I would try...

Rhent,

Can you please give us a complete list of the hardware that your running, also make sure you have the full version of DX9 installed. Yes windows 7 does come with a basic version not a full version.
DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010)

Just trying to cross every thing off the list to troubleshoot.
