In a nutshell, Small, Medium, Large hardpoints for each energy, ballistic, or missile hardpoint.
HOWEVER, you can still fit Larger weapons on smaller hardpoints, but this will incur an efficiency penalty, like slower cycle rate, jamming, or a heat penalty.
(Although, if a heat penalty is applied, ditch ghost-heat.)
Thoughts, questions, ideas? What do you think?

Introduce a new rule, then immediately allow violation of that rule? No thanks.

No. We don't need more restictions on customizing our loadout. It will only lead to more mechs having the same weapon setup.

Weapon hardpoints are already an added on system, we don't need another system added on to that to make things even more complicated both for the programmer and for the gamer. I understand what you're going for here, but I don't think it's warranted.

wow that's bad the idea and it's the 2nd time in 10 min I've seen it in the forums today. Nerfing hard points is well one of the worst game suggestion I've seem in the forms so far. Part of the fun is customizing a mech then dropping in to a battle and see how well you ride preforms taking that away would make a fun game lame, it's like putting giant helmets on mechs so a head shoot form an ac20 is mostly harmless, oi a bad idea is a bad idea. Please don't stop brain storming you may come up with something really cool or useful but this time well give that last game suggestion a burial it deserves lets pretend it never happened.

It's far too late for something like that, although I kind of wish they went that way before. Personally I wish they would have stuck with stock mechs only, at least initially (and especially with Community Warfare). Unfortunately it's far too late for anything drastic to change.
